Eh
A super show build up - the first 60% of the book is all history & math. The next bit is explanation & science. It gets interesting around 75% and the ends extremely abruptly.

I usually enjoy Tess' books but this one was disappointing. I was not surprised by the outcome, did not enjoy any characters, and the ending seemed weird & forced.
I got 54% of the way through but it is just so boring. It follows two separate main characters (ish, it's more two groups of main characters) but no one has much of a personality unless it's evil mage.
So far there's been more raping & enslaving than anything else and that is absolutely not what I am interested in, especially in a fantasy novel that is supposedly about dragons.

there were so many times I skipped ahead because he went over things we already know. more than a dozen times does he lament (in as MANY words as possible) the loss of his three wives. even more often does he wish for a shower & the internet! I understand this is supposed to be a mental musings book but it could have been edited at least a few hours shorter to save us from hearing the same thoughts over & over.
ends on a cliffhanger, just like book two.
for being 45 hours long, not much happens.
IF I read the next one, I'll probably borrow the it from the Library & skim it to avoid hearing more of the same.

Two stars solely for the last chapter. I will admit there was a slight twist, but the characters are barely developed, the dialogue is stilted & awkward, and the whole thing reads in monotone somehow. It feels more like a short story written for a high school creative writing class than anything.
The ENTIRE book is a build up to the next book. The main character mostly just complains about his job & being pulled into fights. The other characters are all spoiled or liars & that is their entire personality. It also seems to end mid-thought & on an extreme cliffhanger. Not planning to read more of this series.
