This book picked up immediately where book one ended, and stopped in the middle of the events it had been building toward.
There was more frustration, less character growth, and some very heavy handed foreshadowing, but overall still a fun read!
A lot of my favorite characters were barely mentioned (I think one knight had maybe three lines & Hannah only had one memorable conversation. Eric warranted two paragraphs. Kraken barely gets any story line & his exploits seemed like the most fun.)
There's also characters we meet & never hear about again, so I'm wondering if they'll show up in book three or if they were used as a distraction/filler, since they didn't really add anything to the plot besides making the rehead tired.

I did not enjoy this one as much as the last, even though it picked up immediately after the events of book one ended. 
While some things happened..... not a whole lot happened. It only took a few hours to breeze through but I found myself skimming more than reading. 
Lots of wondering, lots of letter writing, lots of discussing and not much actual plot or action. 
Kind of a let down, since I've enjoyed so many of Charlie's other books - but I will still read the next one. 
This also left on a sudden and extreme cliffhanger. 

This book was a wild ride & so much fun. 
Every character was perfection and so many of them are sassy! Everyone goes through some change or growth throughout the story.
The puns are fantastic. 
I devoured the book in one sitting & immediately bought the second one. 
Very brief mentions of big topics, but this book is focused on a small group of people & their relationships & growth over a short period of time.
10/10, would read again & laugh the whole time. 

A very slow burn. Things didn't really get moving until 80% of the way through - and at first flipping between the narrator and "you" was very disconcerting. 
Once I got the hang of how it was written.... I still struggled. The entire book is backstory & build up to book two. 
There are many gods in this land, typically they focus on a specific thing (weapons, food, weather, etc) but others are more broad (the Forest protects the town from sickness)
This story follows Strength & Patience of the Hill, who is a rock god & her story over time. 

Deducted half of a star for the opening (he beat a child) and the ending (not as much of a cliffhanger as an abrupt END.
Story was engaging, characters are interesting and varied. 
I liked how the stats & rules were explained (slowly, as the MC learned about them, not lumped In an info dump in the beginning)
Overall quite pleased with this one & looking forward to the next installment!

Not a bad little story - it had an interesting twist and I liked the way the main character got drawn into the detective plot.
However, her personality changed a LOT over the course of the book - more than expected since its rather short.
there so many long, meaningful glances between the two MCs and I had hoped this would not turn into a romance of any sort.
I wish the other characters would have had more page time since they were so intriguing. 
A few minor content warnings but all were mentioned more than once (none in detail though!) 
All in all, a cute story & I plan to read the next when it comes out.

Oh I liked this one. A great little story with a fantastic twist.
