Easily the most adorable book I've read recently. I loved every character (except the bad dude, of course) and it wad intriguing to watch them all grow in their own way.
Immediately purchased book two and will be hurtling through that as well 🙌🏻

I've read a few of Tilly's series and I think I'm done.
The characters & dialogue are all pretty wooden.
I didn't care about any of the characters in this one - which was a disappointment because I'm a quilter & thought a cosy sewing related mystery would be fun.
It dragged, even with the FMCs cool memory thing, and I wound up skimming the second half.

A Thousand Recipes for Revenge

Beth Cato

DID NOT FINISH: 39%

DNF.
I made it 42% of the way but it was so incredibly boring
even with the prince being poisoned and the lady's friends all getting killed
that I'm moving on to something that will hold my interest for more than 4 skimmed pages.
I usually read fantasy & I love magic in books, but this one was not my jam.

I did not care for any of the characters or the way the book was written.
Every single details was drawn out, every thought shared, every event gone over twice.
It was drawn out and became real boring real quick. I skimmed the last 85% of the book.

Fin.

I love the way Emily writes her characters & the banter is always the best.
The last 100ish pages just stomped on my heart and I definitely cried.

What in the young adult wattpad did I just read???
I do not understand the hype about this book.

I despised every single character. I didn't enjoy the writing. All the sentences are the same length. The entire book reads very wooden. There were very few emotions, and the thoughts are split up. I got so annoyed reading it. There was nothing I liked. I skimmed the entire middle. The interactions between people are cringey. There was nothing great here.
(Did you enjoy that paragraph? Because that's how THE ENTIRE BOOK is written!!)

There are a ton of plot holes as well!
Every character is pretentious and both main characters are convinced everyone is obsessed with them (or at least coming on to them.)
Also FMC has a random nighttime visitor? And it's awkwardly written and then NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN??
I'm just going to assume it was Bob but maybe he's not "the void" after all

The reveal wasn't a surprise.

I'm also annoyed that no one batted an eye at the wife defending her husband in court
or the fact that she got married the day after he was executed.
seems wrong but I don't care enough to give it a Goog.

I'm sort of on the fence about this one.
I read the book in one sitting but ended up skimming the last half.
The way the book is written is repeative, drawn out, and purposefully sideways.
It's not always clear what the timeline is either because we fall into flash backs, flash sideways, and other POVs randomly & with no indication as to who we're hearing from.
I'm not super impressed with the book, but this was my first by this author so I'm unsure if this is just how she writes?
Might check out another from the library but not planning to  uy any others (or revisit this one)
Is ot a twist if the character that ends up being the bad guy is barely in the story? I didn't see it coming because it literally came out of left field. The murderer has maybe two interactions with the main character before things are revealed.
