Heartbreaking and beautiful with wonderfully characters and enchanting writing.
Ends surprisingly and I highlighted so many bits.
Immediately buying book two.

Missing Parts

Lucinda Berry

DID NOT FINISH: 14%

I got 14% of the way in.
I hate everyone, I cannot sympathize with any of them. Usually I'd just power through or skim til it got interesting BUT the 4 year old daughter ends up in the hospital
with her kidneys failing and she's on all sorts of machines and won't wake up, they need to start dialysis or she'll die.

I don't do books where kids are gravely hurt or die, and i can no longer do medical trauma books.
Also in the 50 pages I read there are SO many content warnings to be added.
This one is not for me.
Not continuing and possibly not picking up any others from this author either.

This one could have been interesting but it came across (to me) as repetitive and drawn out. It should have been exciting but was more clinical and wooden.
I did not really care about the book, or any of the characters this time around, but the interworld travel is still cool.

This book kept my attention and the character  did not frustrate me or make me feel like skipping ahead to see if they made it out alive or not - but it ended extremely abruptly.
Moving on to book two to see if it picks up immediately or if that was the end of that particular story.

Not as good as the first one.
Maine kept going back and forth (multiple times per chapter) for the first quarter of the book between complaining about having Noff as a business partner and being glad they were working together, which was whiplashy & odd.
New characters, new locations, new cases.
Not bad but not sure I'm going to continue the series.

I wanted to know what happened to Dain from the last book. And I ended up skimming the majority of this because I do not actually like any of the characters and everything wad dragged out.
I did find out what happened to Dain (and of course they fixed whatever problem was at hand and ended up fine) but I will not be continuing the series - even though the epilogue is another mystery/cliffhanger.
