adventurous dark emotional funny inspiring fast-paced

This book was such a fun and adorable read! The book has been bugging me the whole time to be read. I keep seeing the tiktoks from the author so i finally picked i up!

The book is genred as Adult but it reads like a YA! To me it didn't bug me at all because it made it easier and quicker to read through it.

What disappointed me was that there was no world building at all. You get to know there is only a small city with a forest around and thats all you get to know that is world building. But on the other hand i didn't mind it as much as i thought i would, you know there is magic even though there is no magic system is was alright to me. The story is not based and involved around magic so that didn't bother for me. For someone who goes with high expectations because of reading loads of fantasy you will be disappointed by that!

Their relationship was so cute and build up well until i got to the end and got so disappointed! I do hope the romance gets better in the second book!

"Her fate is inked in blood. It's carved in her bones"

Im just going to say here and now this book is a book i will from now on recommend to anyone who will listen to me and need recommendations!

I went into this book with only knowing its involving Norse Mythology, vikings and magic and if you follow me here for a while and read my posts you know im obsessed with Norse Mythology so when i saw a post about pre-orders for this book i just straight away pre-ordered especially after seeing the UK hardback version with the runes underneath the jacket and blue sprayed edges.

The story starts with the female main character in her house preparing fish and living in a house with her husband who has a drop of blood of the gods. Its nice to read a book with someone who doesn't start out single for a change, just already married even though it was not something she wanted.

The world building was what was needed to know you got to know! Honestly having knowledge on the Norse Mythology already is nice as not everything is told on what it is exactly. But in my opinion im already glad no explanations where given as that would probably irritate anyone who reads it.

What i in my opinion loved a lot is that i got to know some things about a lesser known goddess of the Norse Mythology! It got me excited as i knew almost nothing and when you do research in general about the Norse Mythology you won't read the name very quick or much either. It got me excited that it wasn't some hero story either of someone who saves the world or something but rather a fmc who has no idea what is going on. For me it was a fmc who was somewhat normal (outside of ofcourse the magic)

The writing style is very nice and quick. The book does have a few spicy scenes but these were spice in a nice actual love kind of way and perfectly placed in the story! The relationships building up nicely between characters!

First of al Gemma thank you so so much that i got this ARC read of your debut novel! When reading the thropes i got really excited and honestly did not disappoint!

We step into a world of Ariana who gets beaten up by parents every day for every little thing she does and gets by a portal in a magical world out of fairytales.

Honestly the character is very relatable and naive at first to finally getting the love and affection she had always wanted. I honestly could not blame her at all but i just saw the red flags already from the beginning and kept screaming no so badly😂

There are plots i didn't see coming and some i did but that made me love this book a lot and ughhh the dragons i love the dragons so damn much! Funny, motherly and sarcastic/serious kind of bonded dragons are the most fun dragons and it really added to the story on finding herself. I really can't wait for the next book! I was screaming so hard when he asked her who hurt you. I just had to stop reading and scream in my pillow you have no idea how much i love that especially after how he was when we first met him. Such a sucker for that honestly

However yes i know i gave it a 3.5 stars and that is because i really got overwhelmed with the amounts of detailing there was given in the world building. Yes i absolutely love details but sometimes it got a little too much. And the sister love, i didn't get it out of personal experience. It wasn't in my eyes realistic and maybe that is because i have experienced it different but you can not tell me there was not atleast some jealousy and hate towards the perfect sister who did everything right and had a great life wile the fmc got beaten up🙈

Yet i really enjoyed this book and i had a part of crying. the end still has me staring at the wall (im an emotional mess send help and i know there will be a second book in this series and i can't wait to be able to read that!

Such a fun and short story! We got an introduction to a new world and magic system and i am so excited to read more! I love the writing style and the characters! Eagerly waiting to know them more and that cliffhanger dang i was not prepared for it and then the next page said end🫠
slow-paced

To me this whole story made no sense to me apart from just a few parts. Half the story i had no idea what was going on, her romantic feelings were with almost every male she met for some reason which made me very irritated. The plot to me is still not clear and the only reason i kept reading is because of my liking for Whalen and rooting for Whalen.

Coming to that character, it seems to me the writer is trying to write enemies to lovers, i can see the outlining of it, but its not pierced together in the nice way, its jumping from one thing to another.

The world building feels very flat, there is a little village, there is a barn and a house and thats all we know there is. I would have loved to know more about this clan village and the people in it!

I do have some good notes though which made me read on. Some description of things made it come a little more alive of the flat feeling story. It felt to me like the writer was like, oh i need more feeling. Then puts all that feeling in that small thing and then the rest is flat again. If more time spend on those feelings im sure it would have felt way less flat to me!
