I had to read this one twice in order to like it. In my defense, the first time was around age fourteen or fifteen and I was just beginning to explore my literary tastes. So I read it again at twenty and found it exceedingly more enjoyable. I did, however, enjoy Now face to face a good deal more but that's most likely attributed to my interest in colonial America.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society was an amazing book! I am usually very skeptical of epistolary works but this was such an enjoyable read! Like the protagonist, Juliet, I found myself falling in love with an island and it's people through only their letters detailing what their lives were like during the German occupation of Guernsey Island. There are countless works of WWII fiction but this is officially one of my favorites.
