Huh, that wasn't what I was expecting but quite interesting. A lot of topics touched on and I actually really appreciated the authors note!

Holy crap...I just had one of those frantic moments where I was hoping my book was missing chapters but then realized it was a cliffhanger and I have to wait for book two. I am hella ready for he sequel and it has been preordered! So good! I love all the magic and politics and dealing with prejudices and... Everything!

Intense, sexy, dark, violent, bloody, magical, and fantastic. I cannot wait for the third book. I love Petra and I'm loving the lustful relationships and ridiculously over the top intensity of the violence and the politics and family drama

Florence is such a bad ass lady! I love how much we got to see her and how we got to continuously compare her and Florence with them being in the same place. I absolutely LOVED getting to see Florence with a romance! She took the plunge opening up to someone who could've betrayed her--but more impressively it was a move that Arianna would've advocated against. FLORENCE IS ALL GROWN UP! *tear with smile*

I loved how this book wrapped up. It was bloody but not pure gore. I loved getting to see the guilds attempt to come together. Everything just came together!

Super in love with how Arianna and Cvareh ended. It was perfect!

I am absolutely obsessed with everything Elise Kova puts out I guess. Her writing is so perfect! I love all the characters and the mystery/treasure hunt/murder/pirate-ness of this book! I need to finish the Air Awakens and the Golden Guards trilogy now!

I mean...if this isn't a reference to what we sacrifice in order to get oil then I don't know what the hell is! It was slow to start but really picked up at about 1/3 of the way in. I'm not crazy about the cultural info dumping that happened (that the author apparently used Wikipedia for). It came off as more of a fantasty than a steampunk but I actually really enjoyed this
