This was so adorable and fun! I love our main ladies and the perspective and lotalty to their families. Really excited to keep on this series, especially after this ending! The cultural references and children's/kinda adult jokes made me laugh pretty continuously throughout.
Loved the tone of this! Loved the ending of this! Loved the relationship building in this! Everything that needed to be covered was covered and no unnecessary crap thrown into make it more than a stand alone. Really enjoyed it.

Oh my God! I absolutely loved this book!
Overall, it's got a very dark tone but I loved all the characters and the romance hit me in the feels. The social and legal hierarchy and set up was disturbing and drew more of my attention than the dragons did. I'm so excited to see whatever massive revolt comes from the next book(s?). Its kind of like a mix up of An Ember in the Ashes and the Loom Saga. The ending wasn't like a massive cliffhanger but I really need the sequel to know how this continues. I was panicking at the end when the main character was in jail. I definitely want to reread this before the end of the year.

Holy balls... *Hand on heart* the ending makes me so happy! Well firstly, one of the characters has my name and is from my country...Then there's TONS of action...Then there's references to Monty Python and there's several references to atheism! This is my absolute favourite stand alone that I can ever remember reading. It has the potential to be such an amazing movie and I can't wait for the adaptation! I'm so happy I bought this book.

This book wasn't perfect and had some issues but I did thoroughly enjoy the plot and the conflicts set up for the conclusion of the trilogy.
I need to see how the whole "every guys lives Henrietta" trope gets played out. I do LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that Henrietta is the main character but not the "chosen one" and that these important characters are outsiders of the society. I adore Mariah and want to see how she grows into this role.
I was surprised about all of the blood/lineage reveals. I really have an issue with the way that Blackwood treats his sister and Henrietta. Henrietta and him being together doesn't make any sense to me as she clearly wants to be treated as equal yet he does not treat her like that. He isn't a massive obvious sexist like some of the other in the community but he has said and done some questionable/sexist/controlling/obsessive/territorial things...basically everything he does in this book, essentially..
I've also felt my emotions from Magnus shift to being annoyed at his cockiness to being annoyed by his love of self-pity. He needs to change his character or get killed off.

This book was cool. I have a really hard time finding books set in Victorian England that don't make me so annoyed with the sexism. While this book most definitely had varying levels of sexism, they worked with the story and the female lead wasn't a ridiculously submissive woman. The twists in the book did actually surprise me and I wasn't able to keep everyone separated despite a larger cast of characters. I will definitely be reading the sequel and be keeping an eye on this author. I really enjoyed the writing style and was shocked to see this was her first. The only reason that I didn't give the book a higher mark was the pace--I felt the beginning could've been a little faster BUT by the end...the book was moving fast :D

Oh I loved this! The story was even better being read by David Tenant and with the illustrations! It looks like the doodles in my elementary school notebooks!
Xan really grew a lot and I love the quest. Really excited to see how the King and Queen interact in the sequel. The evil King is gonna be so cool to see in the next book.

Aw, this was a cute story! I loved the snappy one liners BUT I really don't like that there was a romance in it. I just role my eyes at that. The mc is clearly incredibly smart and grows to better understand herself and her parents as well as the new world she is thrust into. The magic and new world was really fun and easy to get into.
I HAVE SOME SERIOUS INTENSE EMOTIONS ABOUT THIS BOOK! I NEED THE DAMN SEQUEL!
Damn, I've never been so pro a romance in such a short period of time! Legit, really good relationship development overall and really curious for the world and politics to expand...plus I'm always a sucker for a rebellion.
