TJ Klune has my heart. I giggled, I cried, I AWEEEEEED. I had a hard time with Nick's dad since he was a cop and...you know, I'm reading this in 2020 but I just couldn't not love everyone. Klune has a series talent with writing characters and dialogue.

Eh my annoyance of YA fantasies kinda being all the same strikes again

It's was fun and light but not my favourite YA read of the year of book from the author. Don't regret reading it but don't plan to read again.

Pretty disappointed surprisingly. The whole thing was quite boring. I love MG mysteries but this was so flat

So I've been struggling a fair amount with YA fantasies and I'm never super into contemporary setting fantasies...BUT THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! The pace, the characters, and the mystery are SO GOOD! I love the secret societies. It's so well written with good pacing so that even though it's like 500 pages, it just blew by! I can't believe this is a debut!
