Exactly the type of book that I needed to read. Nothing too deep and the conflict wasn't overly serious or complicated. The characters were likeable. Good read all around

This was incredibly well translated. When I think of the last translation I read...I think it was A Winter's Promise? The book felt like a lot of things were just shoved in and underdeveloped when in reality it could totally have been things not translating from French to English and then to the reader...I was concerned about this but totally not an issue! I am incredibly impressed considering you not only have a translation but a completely different alphabet and culture to think about during that translation.

The world...feels big and despite not being a giant book itself, there are a lot of characters. I did find that overwhelming at times since we are also moving geographically and have a time jump but that did not deter my enjoyment of it! I bought the first 3 books on a whim and I am incredibly happy I did that. I really liked that we got so many perspectives and loved the adventure.

holy CRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP the ending. There's so much murder in this. Enne is just straight up killing someone every scene it seems. Everyone be lying or telling half truths for the full book. It's a social and political hot mess from start to finish but the ending just leveled up that mess. I need Queen of Volts NOW SO DON'T YOU DARE DELAY THAT SHIT BECAUSE OF BITCH AUNT COVID!

I expected to enjoy this book but not nearly as much as I did! The two timelines were written so well! I loved both of the perspectives but I am honestly most impressed that their pacing was similar so at no point was I annoyed at the modern-day timeline was slower or faster than the historical! A lot of books with more than one POV suffer from that but not this one!

I will forever want to punch the modern-day character's dirtbag of a husband. I detested him and I wish that character would have stood up for herself more or maybe had an epilogue to show her after everything happens in this book where she...develops into who she wanted to be after getting a degree or a job or...something like that.

I somehow think this is better than book one which I was NOT anticipating! The romance is so freaking good! I love Lucie and Tristan. I understand Lucie's concerns of trying to be for the suffragette movement as priority over a marriage and what marriage is at the time.

GIVE ME THIS JACK THE RIPPER MYSTERY WITH STOKER AND VERONICA DOING THE HORIZONTAL REFRESH NOW RAYBOURN!

I'M GOING TO START BURNING STUFF SOON TO RELEASE THE SEXUAL TENSION!

SIDE NOTE: I feel Veronica become proud of me everytime I convince someone to read the book and OMG I've gotten so many people into it! Ga!
