super cute and with really meaningful and lovely few messages! approaches class struggles with such tact for a children's book. really fantastic!

I liked the little twist in the soulmates system, how neither of them can sleep well unless they're together. I feel like that's a pretty good incentive for getting together - not too dramatic, but not too boring either. sleep is very important for the human body!
the characters themselves, so far, are rather typical for the genre. I do find myself occasionally confused as to whether I'm looking at jiseok or jigeon in some panels, but it's not horribly confusing.
I think I'll keep reading on, though! I'm getting fond of the main couple, and this volume sets up some interesting conflict between the love triangle/square.

I didn't read the original it's spinning off of, but this stands very much on its own. can even read it as a one-shot, which I will, because I couldn't find it in me to care more about these guys. they're cute, but I'm over the whole "I'll kiss you so you can see whether or not you like boys" and the "I don't know how gay sex works so I'm just gonna try stick it in the first time and see what happens" thing. I've read too much BL for this. but it's a lovely little return to classic form, I'd say. nothing outward, nothing new, just very cozy for seasoned fujos. really lovely art though, nice to see a dad bod done (some) justice.

this was a genuinely moving account of what it's like to live as an asexual aromantic woman, woven in with earnest adult friendships and an undying love for a hobby. Felt a little tiny bit like having my hearts desires reflected back to me.
fun fact about me: my mum keeps insisting her best plan for me is to marry a gay man in a country where gay marriage isn't legal so we can live in peace. I will be fighting for LGBT rights instead but I think it's kinda funny my mum supports me entering a lavender marriage

둘이 더 빨리 연애할 수 있는 기회가 많았는데 왜 안 했는지 이해가 안 간다 ㅋㅋㅋ 그냥... 서로를 밀당하는 것도 아니고 사회나 가족 때문에 못 연애하는 것도 아니고 섹스도 했는데 끝까지 뭘 기다리고 있는 사이? 같아서 좀 답답해졌고 딱히 지루하지는 않았는데 이렇게 계속 기대하는 것이 내가 좋아하는 것이 아님

well. that was certainly just as good as I'd been led to believe! really an incredible piece of prose.
it felt somewhat slow-starting, but even so I enjoyed just being around the characters - not that I liked them, more so that they were so vivid, and they intrigued me in an almost anthropological way. do people like this really exist? yes. I think I've met them before, actually. the more mundane aspects Tartt shows here reflect quite a lot of what I've seen in my meanders into the upper-class world, at least.
the plot was smooth, even in its absurdities it all felt like a natural progression of events, which really was what made me want to keep picking it up despite its enormity and tendency to tangent into bits and pieces of related-but-unrelated scenes and reflections. I think that's what made the characters feel alive, though; Tartt's ability to recreate the patterns and connections the subconscious makes, and place them perfectly in between and into the scenes of action is really commendable.

a perfectly competent mystery, but I've somehow found that this genre just isn't something I enjoy. Perhaps it also has to do with the very simple, straightforward writing of this novel specifically, but I just wasn't particularly invested in finding the murderer. I felt like I knew who did it halfway through the book, got it "right", and then got slapped on the back with a funny little twist that just doesn't work all that well for me. ah well...

first of all, this translation is mostly rough, and at times borderline unreadable. at times, I thought it was entirely possible that it was machine translated - which would be incredibly cheap and disrespectful of bighit if so, and unfortunately likely considering the lack of translation credits in the print copy I have.
as for the actual story, this was actually a little cleaner than I remember it being the first time I read it when it came out. although it's more of a look at the character's emotions, there's still a storyline that requires a little more pondering than you'd think would be necessary for k-pop band lore. it's not ever clarifiedhow jin's powers works, whether taehyung is having ptsd-induced nightmares or if they're visions of another life, what happens with smeraldo garden, and the cliffhanger ending is done decently well.
genuinely, this would probably have been miles better if the translation was given it's due attention. if bighit had used a machine translator for this, I'm incredibly disappointed, especially considering that fans were already translating the notes left in the HYYH albums out of pure love already, and would have probably been overjoyed to do it in an official capacity if asked. and if they didn't use a machine translator, well... I hope whoever did the job got a lot more practice in since then.

fantastically illustrated, gorgeous use of paneling and colours! very satisfying read, although I still wish we got to hear more from a couple of the characters. it's a heaving book as it is, though, so I understand why it couldn't happen. very much recommended to anyone who's into (light on the science) sci-fi and queer stories.
