I really liked this. I think my favorite part was when the sassy narrator was antagonizing the main character.

Wow, what an ending. This was so heartfelt, sobering and fun. Lots of commentary on racial constructs, poverty and family all mixed together with his sense of humor. Some parts made me crack up, some parts made me sad and some parts blew me away. The best part: hearing his voice as I read. If he narrates the audio, that might be the better way to enjoy this story. Now I hopes he starts writing about his travels and his experience as an immigrant in America.

Wow, this was a crazy thriller unlike anything else I remember reading. It's a well thought mind fuck. Just when I thought I had it figured out, it took a different turn. Read it without reading any reviews. This one is best read with no knowledge of the plot.

Such an amazing story about a monster storm. I loved all the small details that described the setting and the time period. I kept reading bits aloud to Nathan. There were so many people highlighted and it was hard to keep track of who was who so I downgraded it to 4 stars. I can't believe this book isn't more popular because it was really well researched and well written.

Update 12/5/16: I continue to think about this book so I'm upgrading it to a 5 star.

This packs a lot of punch for such a short story. I have a feeling I'll re-read it and think of it often. Hard not to draw comparisons to then and now.

The plot is so creative! I wanted more of the book world and less of the real world. There is really great potential here to make a movie version. It'd have to be someone like Tim Burton to really do it justice.

What an amazing story! I've never heard of the Harlem Hellfighters before, and that's shameful because it's a group of courageous Americans, who deserve to be well known and honored. I don't normally read graphic novels and didn't care for how busy the graphics were. I tend to just read the text and skim over the pictures. This is definitely worth a read.
