I truly love these unique stories. The Dread Penny Society-on the surface... Writing Penny Dreadfuls, books for the lower class.... But underneath and in secret.... Helping the lower class citizens.
In this book, there are a lot of thefts going on about Town. Most are little street urchins, doing the bidding of an unknown Master. There is also the elusive Phantom Fox.
Hollis and Ana try to navigate a budding relationship - each with their own secrets that they have to try to keep hidden.
Hollis could quite possibly beat Fletch (from the previous book) as my favorite DPS gentleman! He is so sweet and really helps the secret society he's involved with navigate London society.
Ana is a master at anything she puts her mind to! She's also very sweet and kind hearted. She is doing what she feels right after her father loses the family's standing in society. Her father is this gentle and kind man.
I think my favorite Penny Dreadful story (which you get in between the big story) is the ghost school one. That one is so fun!

Phineas needs to have a wife with money attached to get his estate out of disrepair. He comes into an arrangement to be married to Kitty.... But he's never seen her and won't until the wedding.
Kitty is mattress to be were to Phineas without every laying eyes on him.
Can they come together in marriage and grow feelings of love? Or will this just be a marriage of convenience?
If you are looking for a fast resolution of love, this isn't it. Phineas refuses to take the natural course of the wedding night until Kitty herself invites him to. It's a VERY slow burn and I wanted to throttle them both most of the time! They were both so stubborn and they skirted around the issue for so long...... But that being said, I still enjoyed seeing their journey.

Judy set out to write a book of a person over 100 years old. Emily, Judy's assistant, finds Lucille. What ends up happening is the book is written about Lucille but a very strong 4 year friendship comes out of it.
Lucille will show Judy that it's ok to slow down and enjoy life instead of always being on the go. Judy will show Lucille many great adventures in the world.
I wish I had been able to be friends with Lucille too! She had such a zeal for life. She was always positive. She taught so many great lessons to the people in her life. I love the friendship that Judy and Lucille were able to have. They certainly were two peas in a pod!
Lucille was always so fancily dressed, I loved reading about her various outfits! I looked the various places they went for their Friday lunches.
I'm so grateful for katerockbooktours for letting me read this story. I know a sweet lady (a family friend) that is 107 right now and I knew from knowing her that I wanted to read this. This was such a beautiful tribute to a wonderful lady written but an equally wondeful lady!
Side note: look up Lucille throws out the first pitch for the Texas Rangers video on YouTube. It's really sweet and special and I'm glad I found it!

Josh and Hazel are a fun pair. They meet again 10 years after college (where she blurted something pretty personal and funny the first time they met) at a BBQ thrown by Hazel's best friend Emily-who also happens to be Josh's sister.
Hazel has her own brand of quirk. She has no filter and blurts out whatever she thinks. Sometimes it gets her in trouble or embarrass others..... But never get. She knows who she is and she owns it!
Josh is a more reserved guy compared to Hazel. He was always fascinated with Hazel . They start setting each other up on blind dates and they always end up.... Interesting.
This was a fun book. I love the two together. Polar opposites but they work well when they get together.

A good coming of age story about 13 year old Gia.
Gia and her brother Leo and her cousins want to escape their boring neighborhood. Take off on the boat Gia loves. But then drugs come until the neighborhood and her cousins are involved... And soon her brother.
Leo hits a downward spiral fast and Gia has to deal with the fallout this brings to the family.
I felt so bad for her. She is too young for any of this. But I love how she comes out of it all in the end.

Cute little story to help little ones start in meditation. This will be helpful for my son with Autism to help calm and center himself. He may be a bit too young still to grasp the actual meaning, but this will be a book I will go back to again and again when he's feeling overwhelmed. I love the analogy of the train and having it pass you by while you stay in the station- calm and collected.

I think I enjoyed the first half more than anything in this book. I got And Then There Were None by Agatha Christy vibes that I really liked.
A group of executives from Snoop (an app where you can snoop out what music others are listening to) are invited to a weekend getaway to the French alps for skiing. But people are being picked off one by one. The app just seemed stupid to me and I was hoping it eventually failed!
I never thought the murderer was who it was but when it was revealed....I just didn't find that I cared. Even after finding out why they have done what they've done, I just didn't care about what happened to this person say the end.
There is an unnecessary gory end to one person in this group that twisted my stomach. Parts of the ending dragged on for me and was much longer than it should have been.

Though I expected karma to play a bigger role than it did (though a big bit of karma came for someone finally!) I still thoroughly enjoyed this YA novel.
Prudence is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to her schoolwork. When she gets a C on a project with the "lazy" Quint as her lab partner, she's furious and she's going to make it right!
Ok that part of her I found annoying. But as she volunteers her time and summer to the sea animal rescue center and learns all the good they do and she wants to help them out for more than a grade, I started falling in love with her character.
Her and Quint are a really cute hate to love story! I love how devoted to the center Quint has always been and that he lets Prudence in to share in its greatness.

A cute folliw up to Waiting For Tom Hanks but this time we get Chloe's love story.
Chloe is used to doing it all. Taking care of her dad who has Alzheimer's and being the mom her family needed.
She works for Nick and there's always sexual tension in the air between the two. They've had both their lives turned upside down when Chloe's best friend Annie writes a movie pretty much based on their lives.
I love all the desserts talk. I love that Chloe is such an optimist even when her life is full of taking care of others. Nick is so sweet and patient. I love Chloe's big grand gesture at the end!

Unpopular opinion:
Ugh, I hate this.....
I wanted to love it because Frankly In Love was a favorite of mine last year and I told everyone about it and told them they needed to read it.
The boys are in high school and aged 17 but I felt they talked like they were maybe 14 when talking to each other.
I was hoping the romance would be great but it wasn't as fully explored as it could have been and not as fulfilling as it could have been.
