Another well written novella in this group of friends who pass along a bracelet in hopes of marrying for love.
Marah is a widow of less than a year's time. She works on the ship where her husband was bosun.
When the ship comes under new command, can they keep him from finding out what they've been keeping secret?
Collin is hoping that this posting will help him because a caption is his own ship one day.
I loved Marah. She didn't technically fulfill her promise to her friends, but she married a good man. It didn't end the way she thought it would either, but she opens her heart to Collin and it's beautiful. Collin is sweet and forgiving.

This is a great steampunk retelling of Rapunzel with a blend of vampirism.
Hazel is a Healer. She gets hired to work with Dr. Sam McGinnis. He specializes in working on humans and automatons (bots). Hazel has always dreamt of a girl that looks like her, except for appearance of hair and eye color.
When the mysterious Count Petrescu comes to Hazel with a story that he's a relation and the girl she dreams about is her twin sister who is slowly going mad, Hazel jumps at the chance to go to Romania to save her sister. Sam and his automaton, Eugene, accompany her.
I love Hazel and Sam's relationship. I love to see it slowly bloom from coworkers admiring/desiring each other, but never expressing, to fun flirtation to actual expression of feelings.
The count is cordial, but always with some dark undertone, is something that Hazel and me as the reader, just don't trust.
Now Eugene is so fun too. He's an automaton but he's programmed to act more human and it just makes him stand out.

This book was so good. Rose and Fern are twins.
Fern has sensory processing disorder but has made a life for herself as a librarian.
Rose is very protective of her sister.... Maybe too protective. They grew up with a terrible, terrible mother or so Rose says.
Fern becomes pregnant and Rose convinces Fern to give her baby to get better Fern couldn't POSSIBLY raise a baby with her "condition" .
Rose was a terrible person. We get to see the extent of her manipulations through journal entries.
If you love Sally's past books, pick this up! It's just as good.

I wanted to love this based on the synopsis, but I gave up about half way in. There is some child abuse and relationships that I didn't feel comfortable with. I wanted a lot of magic but didn't feel the was enough and it was a tad boring.
I love this Groundhog's Day Christmas version.
Mae is at a cabin in Park City, UT (in the mountains in my home state!) for Christmas as she has been every year since birth. Her parents and their college friends all gather with their families every year. It's tradition.
As they are leaving to go home, there is a car accident. Mae wakes up.... Back on the airplane and traveling once again to Park City for Christmas.
She relives this day over and over again. Until she starts making meaningful decisions that will make her happy.
I love the family groups. They all have different dynamics and all have different problems. Will Mae end up with Andrew who she's secretly had a crush on for years or his brother that had wanted her? This was a hilarious, heartfelt, sweet romance.

What a mess Eve's life is. Her 12 year old daughter, Junie, has just been killed along with her best friend.
Eve grew up with a mother who did drugs and beat her and her brother Cal. When Eve gets pregnant before finishing high school, she vows to be a better mother than her own was.
She frantically searches for her daughter's killer.
She gets caught up in the mess of her small town. A place where everyone is helpful and nice but underneath it all.... Is dirty and rotten.

I gotta say that I enjoyed the second half a lot more.
I started to read this long ago but didn't get very far before I quit. I thought I'd never go back to it. A friend gifted me the book. So when a buddy read came around on Instagram, I made myself read it.
I didn't like Feyre at all in the beginning. I'm not sure why..... but she did grow on me. She did make some very stupid mistakes along the way but I think Tamlin helped her navigate her new reality.
I loved the Beauty and the Beast vibes. I really liked Lucien.
I'm very excited now to continue the series.

I read this in a day, it was so good.
Sabrina is a widow. When her abusive husband dies with no heir, she inherits all his money.
Harry is a rake, a gambler, and a drinker. He is in very deep debt to so many. He is helped by a mysterious benefactor, Lord Damion, with unusual requests on how to repay him for helping settle the debts. Harry is beaten she left in an alley where Lady Sabrina finds him and she takes him to her home to recover.
I love what Lady Sabrina does with her wealth.
It was very easy to guess the real identity of Lord Damion but I still enjoyed seeing how Harry figures it out.
This is a third book in a series where (Harry's) Uncle Elliott has a condition for his family's posterity to receive their inheritance...... Every into marriage.
I think I really enjoyed this book for the reason that Harry didn't want to marry through most of the book.

I thought this was a rom-com and was surely disappointed that it was more of a contemporary fiction/family drama book.
Susan's grandfather Eliot ran a restaurant. Susan later tried to bring it back to the popular place it had been. There is one problem. She has to compete with an ex-lover, Chris (Susan's grandfather's protege), as he opens his own restaurant. Theirs was a brief fling but ended abruptly.
Susan has a mess of a family. Her mom died, her father only pays special attention to one sister, and sister Meg is a hypocondriac.
I actually liked the first half better when Sudan and Chris didn't even see each other again (after years) into around 43% of the book and then I just sruggled a bit to get through it.

Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for the gifted book.
This is an anthology that follows a cursed pocket watch through history. I have only read Kearsley so the other 3 were new writers to me.
I think I liked Kearsley's book the most.
All the stories are good and it was neat to see how they all hooked up.
