Wow this book was worth the wait!
I devoured this book. Poor Olivia, lying brain dead and pregnant in a hospital. We go back and forth in time-getting glimpses of Olivia and what lead up to her fall. Abi- I just loved her. She did everything for her daughter and would not stop until she got the truth.
This story was very emotional and heartbreaking. All the characters were complex and compelling. I cried through the last few chapters.

This was such an amazing book! Very gripping and emotional. Most people might realize who "the Huntress" is early on, like I did, but will still be fascinated to see how the story plays out! Some might even love her a little bit, not the person she was before, but the person she tries to become. She still did some shady things while kind of loving her though.
Nina was such a firecracker and I took an instant like to her. Ian and Tony were so great and I loved the Nina/Yelena & Nina/Ian relationships (even with how unconventional the second relationship might have been).
This is my first book by Kate but definitely won't be my last. Make sure when you read the book to read the Author's note at the end.

I love that this story is based on the lives of her 4th great grandparents!
The Hawaiian islands and the Hawaiian myths of Maui and his magical fishhook. Get a very Moana vibe (with even the words hei hei making an appearance). I love the traditions and the way they honor their ancestors.
Beautiful love story. It starts with it's difficulties, but blossoms slowly into love.

I kind of have to admire these women. They had a horrible thing happen to them by men in their community, even their own family. To gather together, while the men accused are in jail, to try and decide their own Fate for once in their life.... It was risky. They questioned their faith and each other. Having August, who has been out of the community and came back, record the minutes brought interesting insight into the women's decision.

3.5 - A mother's worst nightmare comes true for Claire. Her girls are kidnapped when she has to pull her car over because she's suffering from an allergic reaction.
As a mother it's hard to see what Claire goes through in the aftermath!
The writing and story flowed easily. I was easily put into a couple of the characters shoes and I felt with them and for them.

Kya, the Marsh Girl, had such resilience. I can't believe all the people that abandoned her. Each with their own reasons, but how could they just leave that little girl? I was amazed at how she learned to survive by herself at such a young age.
I loved Tate and then hated him a bit, but went back to loving him. He was good for Kya. Chase should never have been in her life.
The ending made me sad and had me crying. It also shocked me. Delia made a well done story that pulls at the heart strings.

Henri, as he lies in a coma, dreams of his past life as a child and what his life could have been if he had made different choices. His son Sam, smart boy who sees and senses things in color, never having met his father..... Who still comes to his bedside every day. Eddie, who loved Henri once, stays by his side and also dreams of what her life could have been if she stayed with him. Madelyn, a coma patient who Sam finds and starts to care for and look out for her.
Very intricate characters who I fell in love with. Beautiful writing!

I have loved Kenji so much through this series so it was great to have him get a novella!
This was very fast paced and bleeds right into Defy Me...... That last chapter was so crazy.... Can't wait to see where the story continues!
