Read for class, extremely boring, and probably won’t pick it up again. Marquez can do better
I stopped reading this a while ago, honestly nothing is wrong with the book. It's on me, I didn't expect it to be so history/background knowledge heavy, I was just expecting interesting vibes. I feel like the title is pretty misleading, but maybe I misinterpret what she means by a playlist for the apocalypse, or I just didn't read far enough. I'll get back to it later, and I'll probably have to restart it and do some googling, but it's been put off for now.
I mostly picked this up just because of the title. I think it’s a little too beginner level for where I am, at least as far as I read, and combined with the writing style/formatting it just wasn’t for me. It was a little interesting to see what kind of actual research has been done, so I might pick it up again, but it’s unlikely.
I'm halfway through and it's just not hooking me. It's alright, but not good and definitely not great, and I just have other priorities right now. I think I could come back to it later, and I won't even have to reread because we are frequently reminded of what happens.
Also the romance was just not convincing to me.
I changed my mind. The second book was pretty terrible and I have no motivation to read this. Bye.

This is the first book I’m DNFing since I joined goodreads (I’ve probably only DNFed one or two before, it’s not something I take lightly) Generally I like reading the entire book to understand it’s full potential, and I’m rarely disappointed (although arguably if a book isn’t good enough to keep you reading past the first 100 pages/30% it’s not worth finishing). I’m DNFing this at 10% because I’m not the hugest fan of the series (I agree that it was a very influential and significant piece of literature, but much like Harry Potter, I didn’t adore it because it’s just not my taste/there are better, newer versions of the same things that didn’t exist when it came out) and it just wasn’t convincing me. Not going to rate it (although if I did probably 2 or 3 stars) because it doesn’t seem fair.
