Read for class, extremely boring, and probably won’t pick it up again. Marquez can do better 

She did exactly what she said out to do, and well. I think it’s a great, realistic, sequel to Dear Martin. I really appreciate when follow-ups manage to fail the gaps of whatever the original missed. 

I see why it's a classic, but I can't say it was my favorite. F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing style reminds me of Ray Bradbury, but I still like Bradbury more. The characters were unlikeable, which was annoying even though it's on purpose. 

Honestly I probably would’ve enjoyed it more had I read it instead of listening to the audiobook. Cringey/cheesy dialogue is normal, even necessary, in this genre, but it’s a lot harder to deal with when there’s real people saying it. Anyway, it was good for what it aimed to do. If you read The Hunger Games for the romance, this is for you. For me, it was okay.

I read this for English class, and I think it's a perfect book for analysis and reflection. There are many instances of symbolism, metaphors, and metaphorical language/scenes that don't really make sense in reality but have some sort of underlying meaning. It's also a sort of time capsule of the sorts of experiences and people African American men in the time period encountered, some of which still hold up today. 

Truly just a comfort book, my favorite thing about it is that you can really tell Rick had fun writing it. Oh, and Fierrochase have my heart forever of course. 

It was... interesting. I can't say I enjoyed reading it, but there's a lot to think about. Mersault is, intentionally, deeply unlikable.
