i need someone else to read this & talk about it w/ me! I think i will read it again. This book is like hurdling through the human brain on a space ship. So many questions i have always had about the brain were answered or acknowledged in this book, but in a star-trekkian scifi explanation form. But its all real still! A somehow seemingly entirely plausible story, but also so dazzlingly absurd. 

I loved this book very terry pratchett esque. A little hard to follow at times but thats partially because i can’t keep track of more than like 3 characters in a book. The time skips were a little confusing, but ultimately this is like a lovable folktale urban legend with heavy philosophical undertones. 

this is an incredibly close and intimate look at human flaws and grief. Very raw and so depressing, a display of misery!! Kind of beautiful and very haunting though i do wish it was slightly less slow, and i also wanted some more creepy details about the MIL. 
EDIT (1 yr later): adding .5 stars bc i haven't stopped thinking abt this book since i read it. That's how you know it got to ya 

This is definitely my favorite book this year so far. An incredible journey through prehistoric history, African colonization, consciousness, hallucination and collective human memory. I love this forever

Very interesting take on what the future holds for mankind, the idea of “consciousness decoupling with intelligence” was particularly interesting to think about. I appreciated greatly the chapter on the Golden Record too or whatever its called that they sent into space, as ive often wondered why they selected certain songs.

I love this book!! Pretty short, but a wonderful story about the complexity of sisterhood, and the failures of men. Will have you screaming at the characters, but thats just good writing. I took .5 off because i selfishly wanted it to be a little longer .

I physically could not put this one down, incredibly written, so intense and pretty scary i gasped audibly while reading it. It was so clear to see in my mind but it wasn’t lazy either. I feel like this one NEEDS a film adaptation. Fair warning its pretty sad but the ending is not. Kind of a blend of magical realism and supernatural horror.
