This was basically like sad hentai disguised as a ‘romance /coming of age’ story?? Very emotional though and the art was *chef’s kiss* 🤌🤌🤌

This book was a european fever dream super weird, i was kind of upset at the ending

like i definitely wanted something crazier to happen with Mercuro and i also thought there was gonna be more about the underground organ market lol

but it was pretty beautiful and definitely a good read, i recommend it 

Okay i love stephen graham jones with all my heart but this book was sooo hard to read. There are so many characters to keep track of and so many different time jumps and stuff but all in all i f*cking love how he writes you have to work so hard. The only thing that pisses me off is i have so many questions still like

why did theo mondragon go on the rampage in the first book? Why did cinn kill ginger? Who really was dm south?? Is stacey graves gonna come back??

but we are still waiting on a third.

I love this book oh my godddd its so horrible and twisted and miserable and beautiful and so unreal! I feel like Chung reached into my dreams and pulled something out and slapped it on the pages with a full backstory. This ones truly for the girls, the brutal girls.

Ok i think i did not like this as much as everyone else, maybe because i was not reading it in its’ original language. I felt like the characters were so incredibly dry. I also was not as scared as i wanted to be i think again because some of the descriptive language was so basic

and also wtf w the aliens like speaking English and stuff like why would they know how to do that??idk

but it was super interesting and i think i will read the second one in the series for sure, i think the history parts/combined with the sci-fi is the main hook for me

I love stephen graham jones!! Hit it out the park again with this one, with a character so incredibly delusional you can’t help but hate her at first, until you realize how perfectly he has written her to deliver us into the story. This one is blood and guts and laughs and some cries for sure, and i feel like Jones always somehow reaches that extra level of writing where he can grab onto something so abstract in his character’s thinking or etc and pull it into the pages, idk how to explain it but just read it lol (.5 stars off bc we were denied some answers)

This made me feel so many different emotions but ultimately was super unsettling and also so human, is the only way I can describe it. It asks lots of important questions, like about your consciousness and what is an ‘extension of u’ and what is not. Super close and intimate (sometimes too intimate) look at the human condition if it was ruled by little portals. Also, this book is translated beautifully.

This is hard bc it was really a page turner like super easy and a no-thinking-required book so it was really fun, but I’m a little confused on a lot of the vampire mechanics like

how come there is only one of him but he kept saying he was gonna make more? And how come ms savage turned all rabid but like the kids killed themselves? Whats going on??

and also like the white savior vibes at the end were not it. 

Okay I’m hooked bro (points off bc i can’t really tell if its actually good or not but i rly enjoy it) 

Meh not my fave i was totally expecting way more. I think if i had known how short it was gonna be i would have enjoyed it more. I do love the monkey
