Easy read. Some of the scenes take you out of the story because of how outdated the technology is now but id otherwise great story that holds up well. Slightly predictable but in a way that just makes you feel kinda smart. Really enjoyed the small chapters that ended on cliffhangers so it's easy to say 'just one more chapter'. Great book to get you out of a reading slump if you enjoy crime and thrillers.

A magical dreamlike trip through the absurd. 

The protagonist is generally a likeable misfit but the age of the book is a bit challenging, with Black people being referred to as “coloured”, and regular sexist and homophobic diatribes. 

Honestly not sure what to think about this one. It kept my attention but I feel like I missed something. Sad I didn’t love it because I’m a huge fan of My Year of Rest and Relaxation. Might reread at some point to give it another go.

God awful. Violet is absolutely spineless and couldn’t make a good decision if it was handed to her on a silver platter. Everything she does is absolutely infuriating. For every mistake she makes a solution is handed to her on a silver platter and she refuses to take it. Almost DNF’d but wanted to see it through to see if it got better (it didn’t). Genuinely don’t know what the point of the whole book was.
