This was a SUPER cool graphic novel. I picked it up on a whim from the library... didn't really read what it was about, just thought the cover was cool. Turned out to have a really nifty and unique story! Loved it.
Meh. The author really rubbed me the wrong way; I don't really understand those artsy-fartsy type personalities. She complains about being "old" as she's turning 22. (Give me a break). I don't really understand the romanticization of Paris/France, so... yeah, this book didn't really do anything for me.
I don't know what to think of this book. I started reading it having NO idea what it was about so the subject matter was a little bit of a shock; but I'm open-minded so that fact that it's about a(n attempt at a) BDSM relationship is moot.
I'm disturbed because apparently it was originally a Twilight fanfic, and the names were just changed. Now THAT is fifty shades of fucked-up.
Aside from that - I really don't like relationships in general, romance and love is not my thing, so I found the main character pretty pathetic. She was just another women trying to please a big/scary/whatever man who she was drawn to for reasons she didn't understand... a la Twilight.
I have no star rating for this because I still have no idea what I think. I will read the next installment simply because this first book ended with an absurd "cliffhanger" - but I will say I'm not paying any money for these books.

I am so glad to be done this book. The author annoyed me to no end. I could make reference to forty reasons why, but I'm happy to be done with this book and this author; I don't even want to waste my time.
