An interesting exploration of AI, of femininity, of humanity, of abusive relationships. Annie is a robot, owned by Doug, a manipulative, emotionally and verbally abusive man who gets off on having power and influence over Annie. Doug’s red flags can be seen from space. Annie may be an AI sexbot, but I still rooted for her the whole way through.

I have yet to read an Emily Henry book I didn’t love. ❤️ Funny Story is about a woman who gets dumped by her fiancé (the mornjbf after his bachelor party) for his ex, and then with no other good options she moves in with her ex-fiancé’s-ex-boyfriend, and what follows is an adorable, sweet, sometimes heartbreaking, but ultimately perfect love story that starts as fake dating and ends with a happily ever after.

I can’t explain it but this is like a horror novel with the flavor of a contemporary romance novel, and it’s really fun. Like, content/plot-wise it’s a horror novel, but the writing style is like a romance novel, and the vibes are very campy and light and also incredibly dark and gory, and it’s a blast.
Anyway, this is small-town horror where the family who runs the funeral home has dark secrets and maybe sometimes the dead come back to life.

The daughter of a serial killer attends a queer horror summer camp in the woods where she believes her father hid the body of her mother. Then things get crazy and she discovers more about her family and her fellow campers than she bargained for.
YA horror, fine for folks who are just dipping a toe into the genre. I found myself bored at times and I didn’t care much about the characters and the plot got pretty convoluted at times, but the ending did pull me back in a bit. The supernatural parts are pretty cool, and there’s some decent gore.
Overall not so much for me, but there are definitely lots of readers who will love this.

Having been roped into an MLM in college (I escaped before doing too much financial damage), I find them fascinating. This book delves into the history of MLMs, how we got here, and why they persist.

Rachel Harrison never misses!
A suburban woman stuck in a marriage with a cheating man goes on a girls weekend with her wild and free best friend and they come down with a serious case of vampirism. 🧛♀️ So Thirsty is sexy and scary and raucous and puts life in sharp perspective. It’s about finding yourself and loving yourself and accepting change and going after what you want. Life is short, or maybe it’s forever, either way, take the risk.

Romantasy at its finest. Spicy romance (level five, multiple times on the page), woven into a solid fantasy novel with warring kingdoms, bids for power, gods and men. Rooted in Norse mythology, a really fun and captivating story. Sets up a sequel which I can’t wait for.
