This book was so incredibly personal to me on a level that’s hard to articulate.
This was a hot mess at best, criminally underdeveloped at worst. Whilst the scenes in the forest were great, the rest read like a first draft. Not the vibe.
YA fantasy at its finest, boorish gravedigger, stubborn goat, lost mapmaker and all.
two time DNF now but it’s just too atmospheric, not enough plot. classic YA author adult debut iykyk
Epistolary novels have a way of getting under my skin entirely to the opposite of any other form. This was gut wrenching but hopeful in a way I think may be inimitable.
Whilst some were superb, too many just left me unsatisfied by their execution. The concepts were there, devious and terrifying, yet the stories themselves ended up only haunting what could have been.
Maybe I would have liked this when I first bought it but it is time to part ways now. The writing was just a little too clunky and left me unable to connect to that which I was supposed to emote with!
