Brilliant text lying somewhere between sociology, philosophy, and poetry, Ahmed reorients phenomenonology through a critical queer lens with precision and soul. Ahmed's writing has reshaped the way my mind takes the world to hand in ways I can't even fully describe; to understand queer experience is to understand the ways we disorient and are disoriented by our worlds and how we respond to that disorientation to rediscover our pasts and possible paths. Can see myself returning to this book again and again and receiving a different lesson each time.

It only took me 2 years but I finally finished this. Incredibly enlightening foundational decolonial(?) text on the logics, consequences, and inescapability of Orientalism. At times, he seems to go too far into the weeds of this historical author or that one, only to follow it up with the most cutting paragraph revealing the necessity of exposing a particular logic. 

Its very dense, but if you read only part of it, absolutely read the final act on Orientalism Now. Written in 1977 but with the presience to see how little would change 50 years later, it's chilling to see his Palestinian analysis echoed so often today, nearly unchanged.

really fun romp through Pat's sexual life in SF with the occasional reference to his music life. very glad I read it and really enjoyed the posters and visuals from his original journals included throughout the book. it's smutty <3

Overall very entertaining and bizarre history surrounding the KLF. Unfortunately, the last half mostly lost me in its repetitiveness and tendency to overexplain tangentially related subjects that felt less like important context and more like a college student trying to meet a page count with extraneous info dumps.

Beautifully written, an emotional and often dark collection of vignettes about the writer's time growing up, the youngest of 3 boys, the youngest animal blessed and cursed with pansy in his veins.
