If anything, this book made more terrified of the opposite sex and my own sexuality. The ideas presented in this book are harmful, naive, and encourage an idea of "purity" that just isn't obtainable. This book encourages readers to sort of invent a virginal, woe-is-me, holier than thou persona. If I never have to even see the cover of this book, it will be too soon. Reading this book and others caused me a lot of pain and shame.
I didn't understand the audience for this book. I wasn't sure if it was a parody of teen girls, which is pretty poor, because teen girls are always patronized and mocked, for simply being young girls, or meant for young girls. I don't think it fit either way. I wouldn't want to receive this as a "funny" gift. I was hoping this book would contain what we can glean from "Vsco girls"- joy in simple pleasures, taking care of ourselves and the earth etc, instead I found a cruel mockery of young girls.
