I think this is actually the first time I read the prequel prior to the first book. That's because they usually come out after the first book but since I'm starting this series quite late I decided to read the prequel first to get a glimpse of the actual book and HOLY MOLY that was good and really interesting. I don't think I would have liked it as much if I read it after the first book. Of course it would have been interesting but it was also going to feel like sort of going back and I don't know, I'm pretty happy with the decision I've made since now all I want to do is dive into "Ink" which I'm going to do btw. Amanda Sun's style is really captivating and really fluid and the story it's really interesting and even though the theme of the "drawing" and the "ink" is not a first it still feels quite original as for now which is good. Really a good start, can't wait to know Katie and Tomohiro better. One extra point: for now Katie doesn't look like the stereotypical YA girl and that I absolutely love. I hope I won't get disappointed in the future.

AMAZING. JUST AMAZING.
I loved this book from the very beginning and I KNEW it wouldn't disappoint me, I could tell.
At first I didn't like the whole Divergent thing because I was afraid it would turn out like a copy of the Roth's series but nope, wrong.
This was so good and the lovestory or triangle is so well done I didn't know who to choose until I reached about 80% of the book. And it's just a plus to the story, not the whole theme, which is what I like the most. I got the time to know the characters better, to understand them and care for them. Addison is such a good protagonist: she is a strong girl, the one kind that actually uses her brain, the one you can relate too. One of my favorite girls in literature, I swear.
I can't wait to read the sequel because OMG.

3.5 stars - I liked this book and the delicacy the author used when dealing with both mental health and loss but I do have to say that I found it a bit redundant in some parts. It’s still a pretty valid read and I loved the use of colours to describe emotions!
I also liked the fact that the romantic interest is not the main focus of the book because it really shouldn’t. I think the romance was cute and the book didn’t suffer from its introduction like I see happening in many other YA books. Overall, it’s a nice read but I usually give 4 stars to book I see myself rereading in the future and even though I enjoyed this one, I don’t see myself reading it again in the future :)

4.5 stars
I really enjoyed this book, it was really entertaining and had me wondering off to many theories while reading it. Not a full five stars because I actually predicted who the murderer was around half of the book BUT there were many things I didn’t expect happening!
Highly recommend to people that love YA and want to spark up things a little with some mystery in it.
