DNF at 69%- first time I've DNFd an SJM book, but I put the book down in February and it's now July. Can't pick it back up so I'm not going to try.
This book was so much better than the first one. I devoured it and am excited for the next one!
Listen...this book started out really promising. Dark romance? Heck yeah. Smut? Give it to me! But at about 90%, all I could think is, "why is this book so GD long?" The unnecessary spicy scenes. The chapters of just info dumping. The cringey descriptions. I just can't do it anymore. You could take at least 3 of the unnecessar spicy scenes out, and I swear this book would be 200 pages shorter. And much easier to get through.

My biggest complaint about this book is that the author repeatedly misgenders Jorah. It feels like they originally wrote Jorah as male and then just decided to make them nonbinary instead, but missed 1 too many places where Jorah is referred to with he/him pronouns. If you're going to do enby rep, please for the love of all that is good, pay closer attention to your editing.
I am...deeply uncomfortable 😬
Graphic: Sexual assault, Sexual harassment
The story was enjoyable enough, but by the last 100 pages or so I just wanted it to be over. It just went on and on and I found myself getting bored.
