A great historical adventure!

Kiss Me, Maybe

Gabriella Gamez

DID NOT FINISH: 68%

I was 68% of the way through, but I didn’t care about reading to the end. I really wanted to like this, as I appreciated the ace and BIPOC representation. As one other reviewer said, “I did not understand why the characters wouldn't just be together and why they would put off the first kiss so long other than to extend the plot. I just felt frustrated trying to finish this book.” Sums up my thoughts exactly.

Enjoyed it. Very low angst.

I loved this book. A romance between two adults going through big transitions in their lives. What happens when they step out of their regular routines and head to summer camp?! I related so much to Gretchen retiring from dating and committing to becoming a crone. Teddy was a lovely MMC, gruff but a big softie. The camp setting was fun and provided the ticking clock for their relationship. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed this, liked the setting and the forced proximity setup.

Overall enjoyed this read. I thought the mental health representation was handled really well, and I really loved the open and vulnerable communication style between the two MCs. The fake dating scenario was a bit far fetched though. It could have benefitted from a significant edit.

Fantastic read. As always, Kennedy tells such an emotional, thoughtful love story. I loved the representation of a plus-sized FMC and her choosing not to have kids, I really related to that. I thought the Alzheimer’s storyline was handled very well—I trust Kennedy completely to handle these sensitive stories in a nuanced and thoughtful way. My only quibble—Maverick might possibly be TOO perfect ;)

I found it  hard to get into at first—I think because the writing is kind of robot-y lol. But it was good.

Overall I liked it, but it could have benefited from a significant edit up tighten up the story. It was too long and too much of Aiden trying to figure out his feelings. How much more evidence does he need that he’s in love with Lucie??!!
