Loved this book. Family drama literature at its finest.

This was not Emily Henry’s best book. It was fun and entertaining, but predictable. I’m not the best judge of romance as it’s not my favorite genre, so don’t take my word for it. But I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much as her other books.
dark emotional funny informative fast-paced

This book was fascinating and terrible.  Matthew Perry does not sugarcoat his own flaws in his telling of his battle with addiction for most of his life. This is not the feel-good celebrity memoir we’re so used to. It is vulnerable and raw, and he tells his story by letting all his flaws hang out for the world to see.
emotional funny hopeful sad slow-paced

The relationship between mother and daughter is so complex and Michele does an amazing job of putting that on display. I appreciated her intense vulnerability that really allows the reader to think deeply about their own relationships as well.

If you enjoy family drama, you’ll enjoy this book. The back and forth between perspective toward the beginning made it hard for me to keep the sisters straight and I had to flip back to the beginning several times. I did enjoy it, but it’s not one of my favorites

This book starts slow, but warms up about 1/3 of the way through. It is long and could probably lose about half the setup. I did end up enjoying it and the fairy tale themes throughout the second half of the story.
challenging dark informative medium-paced

One of the few books I’ve read multiple times. So much background that sets up such a great understanding of how greed can take over, even people with good intentions initially. This is such a fascinating look into the history of opioid abuse in our nation.
