Rollicking depiction of Akron's 1970s Punk/New Wave scene. It's by Derf, so of course it's kind of gross and weird.
Fascinating view inside the modern world of shipping and maritime workers. Account of the author's journey from the UK to Singapore aboard a container ship (with Maersk's most senior captain, and aboard one of their nicest ships, for what that's worth).
Trahsed is both about the experience of being a garbage collector, and also about the history of garbage and garbage collection. It's also a good guide for what NOT to put in the trash! (don't put anything in the garbage that you don't want to eventually leak into the groundwater).
Puts Tetris in the context of the history of games and art. Reminded me of philosophy comics I've read.
RIYL ruins, action-violence, cats, female protagonists, and mecha.
In addition to being about North Korea, this book provides a glimpse into the world of animation studio outsourcing.
Pekar's ruminations on the history of Palestine (and his history with Palestine) told via conversations with the artist JT Waldman and others. Makes me want to read more by him!
