This book has a very sweet and gentlemanly hero! He is fighting the war in the colonies and becomes injured. When he awakens he finds he has a wife, but cannot recall months of his life.
The heroine gets a letter that her brother is injured in the war. Left in England with a scheming cousin trying to take advantage of her, she travels across the Atlantic. Instead of her brother, she finds his handsome friend unconscious in the hospital. She says she’s he’s wife to help him recover and to get information.
So I actually really disliked this book

Obviously this book has some issues that have been discussed to death in other places. I struggled with that aspect to it, but I still overall enjoyed this one because it gutted me emotionally. I felt the turmoil of the relationship, the distrust, the absolute broken feeling inside that it will never be okay - Simon because she takes advantage of him when he's vulnerable and Daphne because, well, he takes advantage of her too. I love books that make me hurt, and this book did that when I read it.

I thought it was a really enjoyable story. A bit of tension, a bit of humor, and bit of angst. I think it’s one of her better books and one of my favorites from this series.

The hero, Ian, needs a wife and heir by the time he is 30 or he loses his unentailed inheritance. He is courting a friend of the heroine. Rumors surround the mysterious Ian and he flames the rumors with his silence about any happenings either way. Felicity, the heroine, sabotages the relationship to protect her friend from the horrible cur.
I generally really like books like this. They don’t have an established history, and meet for the first time in the book. They quickly become enemies with plenty of feisty dialogue. The passion and tension were there. It had the trimmings of becoming a favorite of mine.
However as the book went on, the dialogue becomes very repetitious and the conflict in the story could have been resolved with a few minutes of good communication (a huge pet peeve of mine in books!)
Ian was determined to keep his secrets to “protect” everyone, even though it was destroying Felicity.
But Felicity...I just did not find her a likeable character. She was always harping about the same things throughout the entire book. She doesn’t give Ian the benefit of a doubt ever. She tries to root out all of his secrets and I found her rather obnoxious. I was irritated she would take a rumor as truth then demand “proof” from Ian that it wasn’t true.

I gave it a skim through for official steam stats and still overall liked it. It had some rather gutting and somewhat ugly moments between the characters and I'm a sucker for that stuff! So I leave my rating at 4 stars.
I still have yet for a Julia Quinn to give me 5 stars, but this is probably one of my favorites of the Bridgerton series so far. (I still have a few left to read).
Colin is a bit of a jerk. He's very angry and jealous and I can see it being frustrating for many. I loved Penelope.
Hero is 33, shes 28.

I'm sad, because I really did like Eloise, but I didn't love her in this book. I loved that Philip is a botanist but I just could not come to care about him. I was annoyed with a lot about this book, even the children. Call me heartless, I know.

I remembered this book being SO HOT when I read it. I swore it had like 10 sex scenes. Lol. It has 3, but the first two were quite long for Quinn. And I loved, loved, loved Michael's dirty talking!!
I think this is my favorite of the series. There's something that just tugs on my heart about it. I love the unrequited love aspect for the hero, and I love how he chases her and tries to win her. Francesca was a bit...well - I didn't have a connection to her really. I felt a bit bad, about her guilt, but it was also kind of annoying as a reader, for me, because I enjoyed Michael so much.
