So funny and weird and delightful!!

A solidly entertaining launch to this team. I loved Team Leader Kitty getting her "To me, my X-Men!" moment. The main plot of this arc was...a lil dumb...but, you know, in a comics way.

I loved the Patsy content here and the burgercakes, and I'm glad to see Jen making progress with her PTSD! The main plot was a little bit whatever to me, but that's fine.

It was great to re-visit the world of Uglies, but I'm glad that this series seems to stand on its own--I considered re-reading the Uglies books before this but whooo has the time? And this seems to be set far enough past those books that I could catch the occasional reference but didn't feel like "wait what?"

I suppose this is a new series starter but I found myself wishing for a little bit more of world-building? Like [b:Extras|493456|Extras (Uglies, #4)|Scott Westerfeld|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388187650s/493456.jpg|3315797], this seems to be very much about privacy and how having or not having it impacts a society. But hopefully future books will dig into that more.

In the meantime, this was an enjoyable, quick read and I'm rooting for Frey and Rafi to return soon!

oh my gosh, YES. I loved [b:The Poet X|33294200|The Poet X|Elizabeth Acevedo|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1498766234s/33294200.jpg|54024746] so much, I was a little worried about what could possibly follow that up...but this was just as amazing. Such a moving story about food and family and making your own path! (plus also: recipes)

ok like yes the Father Ralph situation is upsetting but on the whole I actually enjoyed this??

oops I read a Secret Empire book

it was fine? but also: I don't care, stop trying to make Hydra happen

goofy and fun! Down with overly complicated stressful crossovers, up with ridiculous reality television AU crossovers.

A beautiful collection for a good cause. This volume has a fine line to walk--there are obviously a lot of very heavy topics to cover here but overall succeeds at being an interesting and enjoyable read without just hitting you over the head about how terrible the hurricane damage was. I especially enjoyed some of the comics that went deeper into Puerto Rican history--there are a few about the horrible practice of American public health policy essentially tricking a third of Puerto Rican women into getting sterilized! (I had learned about that practice among other marginalized groups in the US but didn't realize it was so widespread in Puerto Rico.)

I also really liked Tristan Tarwater's futuristic story about Puerto Rico's future-history, and the handful of lighter-in-tone stories about food. (Also: I'm hungry, someone pls bring me an empanada.)

I also enjoyed the wide range of art styles in this anthology.

omg, can't believe I forgot to add this on GoodReads back when I read it! I loved it! Aaa!
