It was great to re-visit the world of Uglies, but I'm glad that this series seems to stand on its own--I considered re-reading the Uglies books before this but whooo has the time? And this seems to be set far enough past those books that I could catch the occasional reference but didn't feel like "wait what?"
I suppose this is a new series starter but I found myself wishing for a little bit more of world-building? But hopefully future books will dig into that more.
In the meantime, this was an enjoyable, quick read and I'm rooting for Frey and Rafi to return soon!
