This was perfectly cromulent, but I just don't really like mysteries in general and never would have picked it up if it weren't for the podcat.

I definitely admire Jenny Lawson for writing so frankly about mental illness, and I think she's funny in general. I think this book overall has the same feel a lot of blog-books have for me, where like, this definitely comes across like "a bunch of printed out blog entries and tweets" rather than an essay collection or a real narrative? For me, also, I think her humor sometimes veers into the "LOL IM SO RANDOM" genre? But, I mean, it was a fun, quick read and I know her stuff really resonates with a lot of other people. Of course if you're a huge fan of hers you probably already read this like a year ago anyway.

I loved Rani's voice in this, and I thought her rap lyrics worked really well within the story. I did like that Hawaiian and Gujarati terms are used throughout the book without being italicized or explained, and there is a glossary at the back--some teens might have trouble following? But I think this will be a really important book for the kids who get it. I also think the author's note at the ending could be important for some teens--it is a little wordy and didactic, but for kids having similar responses to trauma as Rani, it might be the first time they see an explanation written out so plainly.

I'd recommend it for fans of realistic issue books ala Sarah Dessen.

what a delight.

I still love Squirrel Girl--I'm not a big fan of time travel-y stories in general because they make me feel VAGUELY PANICKY but, you know, still: Squirrel Girl.

A+++

This is so funny and clever and great, definitely works as a stand-alone if (FOR SOME REASON) you haven't read any Squirrel Girl yet. Also like a kiiind of deep investigation of problems of late-stage capitalism and the concept of superheroism in general?

Also I hardly ever comment on art when I review comics, because I am a monster, but I will pause to admire Erica Henderson for her art! Love the variety of body types on display and also Tony Stark's goofy face. Also I think Ryan North understands the core of what I personally like about Tony Stark sooooo much he's so great in thisssssss

Also did I say it's so funny, because, it's so funny

GODDAMN

This book is nearly impossible to follow if you haven't seen every single episode of Ghost Adventures, BUT it is pretty hilarious and has excellent Goth Fonts.
