let’s start my bois

what i liked:

•plot
this. plot. has. me. melting. i am in love with anything Royal, so this plot had me practically shoving my money in Barns & Noble’s face.

•Miles And Daisy
THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS THE BEST AND SAVING PART OF THIS BOOK. i loved their relationship!!! it was so amazing and had me feeling all mushy inside. i can’t even BELIEVE that i said Peter and Lara Jean’s relationship was well developed and not rushed. this book beat that. and also, Hate to Love? um, yes please? their relationship was so beautifully written. i can’t get over it. their kiss was so adorable and the way Miles stood up for Daisy to Glynis made me so soft. and the way he decided to do college in America JUST FOR DAISY?!

•Daisy
such a sassy and i-won’t-take-your-bullshit kinda girl. Daisy was so independent. she did whatever she wanted to do and i really like that. Daisy stayed true to herself through everything that happened. she never changed for anything or anyone. Daisy was also considerate and selfless, which we don’t really see that often with people who are soon-to-be royalty.



what i didn’t really like:

•It’s a Concoction of Things
there were a few things i disliked, but they weren’t big things.

1. i wish we could’ve seen more character development in Seb and i wish we could’ve seen more of the Royal Wreckers as a whole

2. i wish Daisy would’ve stayed in Scotland

3. i wish the book was longer

so, i don’t really know how to write a review of this story?

it’s a choose your own path, so you’ll end up with a different ending a lot.

it’s really enjoyable and sounds like something fun to do on a road trip or with friends.

solid 4

in fifth grade, i read the first book in this series, Swindle. it was enjoyable and my school library had the second book, Zoobreak, so i said ‘f it’ and checked out the second book.

in sixth grade, i picked up the third one, Framed. and now, in seventh grade, i picked up the fourth one.

i personally really like this series. it’s really lighthearted and cute. im a huge sucker for those sort of “tight-knit friend group that is kinda like a group of spies” plot, so this series (in my opinion) is just right up my alley.

to me, this was either the second or third best book so far. i really enjoyed it! it was really cute to me.

what i liked:

•the friendship
any book, movie, or TV show that has a really strong friendship/friend group has me weak at my knees. (EX: the part from stranger things, the losers club, the raven boys, etc.) this book was no exception. i love that the whole cast of characters would go so far just for their friend.

•the spy vibes
i love spy stuff. it’s so addicting. Showoff gave me those spy vibes and i was obsessed.



what i didn’t like:

•the spoilers
ok, don’t worry, there aren’t spoilers here. i like to think that this series is a series you can read out of order. you don’t have to read Swindle or Zoobreak to read Framed. you can understand the fourth book without having to read the first. but, what i don’t like, is that if you read one book, it spoils the other. i don’t know if that makes sense or not, but that’s literally the only thing i don’t like about this book.

•why did i rate it a 3 star if i loved it?
this book didn’t really change my life. it was enjoyable, and i won’t forget it, i just don’t think it merits a three or four stars.

i read this book way back in April but i never marked it???

anyway, this book is good, to put it bluntly.

i cried reading it, don’t really remember why i cried. it was just a generally good book. a solid read.

there is one downside to this book.

it’s so forgettable. like, i read it six months ago and i can only remember the plot of the book and a major plot twist that happens. nothing else.

so, although i rate it a 4 star, i don’t think it’s really that great.

the casual Edgar Allen Poe story that everyone reads at least once in their lifetime.

i love spy stuff. have i mentioned that? im pretty sure i have in other reviews. anyway, im a sucker for spies. so...i guess this one is pretty self explanatory.

• the plot?
the plot was really spiff and spam this time. by ‘this time’ i mean that Cross My Heart And Hope to Spy has a much cleaner plot than I’d Tell You I Love You But Then Id Have To Kill You.



what i didn’t like:

• relationship
i can’t say much without spoiling it, but if you read the book then i guess you’ll get what im saying.

why. why why why why why. just—why. why does my school make me read this. why.

ok. maybe im over exaggerating a little bit.

if you haven't seen my rating yet, i have it a three. but, if im being honest, im debating changing it to a 2.5. aka a 2.

i don't even know where to start. maybe at the beginning? like all stories do? i guess ill give backstory.

it was a warm, bright autumn day. the air felt fresh, and crisp, crunchy leaves fell from trees to the ground below.

i sat in my ELA classroom, giving my (pretty freaking scary) ELA teacher my full attention as she announced we'd be getting our assigned reading books today.

i couldn't decide whether i was happy or not.

last year, there were only two good books we read out of the four. this year could be better...or worse. dun dun dun.

my teacher wasted no time handing out the books. i sucked in a breath when i heard my name being called. i stepped up and grasped the book in my hand.

'Touching Spirit Bear' was the title.

(horrible writing, i know, it's a joke, ok. stop being a sheep)

there. there's my stupid backstory. now, to the actual review.

i didn't read the book when i first got it. i stuffed it in my locker and didn't bother to touch it until my ELA teacher explained to us that we'd be taking the AR test on the book the next week.

so, reluctantly, i picked up the book and began to read.

and here, my friends, is where i will explain the highs and lows.

what i liked:

• character development
Cole's character development was great. he went from jerky mean kid to groovy guru.

Cole honestly scared me at the beginning of the book. i just thought to myself 'what is up with this kid?' as i turned the pages of this book.

he was terrifying. i get that he had anger issues, and was abused his whole life, and probably had bipolar disorder, but still.

and, even after Cole's character development, i still didn't have an ounce of sentiment for him.

i couldn't care less about Cole or what happened to him. he brought everything that happened to him upon himself.

i couldn't care less if the kid died.



• the reality
i mean,,,,,this stuff happens in real life, whether we like it or not.

there are people like Cole whether we like it or not.

periodt.





what i didn't like:

• the 'i actually have meaning'
if you don't know what this means, let me explain:

this book tries so, so, so hard to be a book that teaches you a lesson. it tries so hard to be the 'book that changed my life!' and i hate it.

it's trying to be some sort of preacher. the books that gives you WiSdOm and cHaNgE.

like, bruh.

honestly, if wanted to read a life-changing book i would've just hopped on over to 'The List' or 'Denis Ever After'.

• snooze fest
i was lowkey bored for half the book.

something interesting happened every, like, what, 50 pages? it was boring! we got told for like 50 pages straight that Garvey, Edwin, and Cole danced. and for what? i kinda cringed reading that.




anyway, the book was ok. maybe if you read this genre then you’ll like the book more, who knows.
