This book was so whimsical!

I loved the plot and the characters. It was amazing how the authors managed to make up these amazing stories.

The characters were very well written! You could see their development throughout the time we get to read about them. They were very realistic.

Would I continue this series? Yes!

I didn’t like Little Richard and Captain Slank’s storyline. It was boring and unnecessary!

I didn’t like that I had a restricted reading time since I had to read this for school.

The one and ONLY thing I enjoyed from this book were the characters. I don’t even know why.

Almost everything. I’m just not a big fan of World War 2 books. They just aren’t my cup of tea. I was forced to read this for school, so this must be one of the reasons why I don’t like this. I’m not sure. The story was way to slow paced. I felt like we didn’t explore the world of the Jews enough.

so I had to read this for school,,,,of course it's historical fiction

my teachers have an odd obsession with historical fiction. which is pretty frikin sad because historical fiction is my least favorite genre.

this book was ok. it was solid. I didn't really have a hard time getting through it.

any who, lets start.

what i liked:

• character development
Esperanza's character development made me melt. i loved watching the way she took charge and helped her family. Esperanza really changed throughout the story, which made me really happy.

im such a huge sucker for character development (*cough* miles from prince charming *cough*). it always makes me really happy while reading.


• representation
i think that the Mexican rep in this story was *mwah* beautiful.

i feel like it really showed Mexican culture and Mexican ideals in this story. it showed their customs, tradition, and beliefs.



what i didn't like:

• it's a concoction
i didn't specifically hate anything in particular, it was just a weird mix of different things.

Esperanza was kinda bratty, in my opinion, the plot wasn't well put together, after they get out of Mexico it's just so boring, and all the characters were kinda 2D.

Beautiful Creatures was one of the best books I’ve ever read hands down.

It was amazing. So many unexpected twists and turns that left me wondering and wanting to read the second book, ‘Beautiful Darkness’. Lena and Ethan’s love was so real.

5/5 hands down.

ive bumped my five stars to three.

when i first read this book, i thought it was amazing. and I think that i thought that only because it was the biggest book id read at the time.

now that i look back on it, it’s so repetitive. the romance is cringe. and the magic system is pretty confusing.

anyway, now it’s a three

I love retellings of any Disney movie! This retelling was dark and mysterious. It was chilling and entertaining. I stayed up reading this and didn’t regret it at all!

I enjoyed the writing style as well. It was extremely well written and easy to follow along. I hardly ever saw myself drifting off.

The only really big con from this book was not being able to know what chapter I was on! There were chapter names, but no chapter numbers.

whoop-de-doo im finally writing a review for this book literally a month after i read it. procrastination at its finest.

anywho, in case you didn’t know, Maybe This Time is about a girl who works at a flower shop. when a new guy comes to town, the two tEeNs have one year (aka nine chances) to fall in love.

let’s start.

WHAT I LIKED:

• the flower aspect
i don’t know a lot about flowers so learning more about their meaning and the way the look was cool...i guess. although, at times, this whole flower thing could get too detailed. but for the most part, i enjoyed it.

• the fashion
or should i say fashion mentions?

my ultimate dream/goal in life is to go to Parsons and become a fashion designer. so, as expected, i really enjoyed this part of the story.


• characters (except for one)
the characters, expect for a specific one who we’ll get to soon, we’re all really cool. they were fleshed our, 3-D, and they all had backstories and families and, ya know, a life.


WHAT I DIDNT LIKE:

• sophie
where do i even start with sophie? she was generally just kinda annoying. she was a bit of a brat in my opinion. to me, she cared only about herself. and she was so rude to Andrew for like no reason.


• romance/slow burn
this. romance. is. so. slow. burn. and it was extremely aggravating. i don’t know about you, but i really don’t like slow burn romance unless it’s done right. and i, personally, don’t think it was done right.




anyway, that’s my review. ✌️ sorry that it came so late.

This book is one of my favorites!

“THIS IS THE BEST NIGHT EVER!”

I loved the characters! At the beginning I was hating on Ashlyn, Carmen, and Tess but halfway through the book they won my heart! I loved every character and their development! They were all amazing. Beautifuly written.

The plot was wonderful! I thought it was amazing. The story all turned out well and I was happy with anything the authors threw at us.

I was super happy with the ending. The ending was super cute and fluffy.

The friendships were awesome! They were super cute! They felt like true seventh grade friendships.

The pacing was wonderful. Everything happened at the right time and everything happened, maybe not in the characters favor the way they wanted, but the way the needed. They were beautiful.

How short it was! :( I was so sad when I reached page 316. It made me really sad when I finished it today.

I wanted to like this book so much. I tried so hard. I didn't listen to people's reviews. I didn't pay attention to the average rating on GoodReads. I didn't listen to any of that. I really tried to like this.

But I honestly didn't and that's what matters.

This book is false advertising. It claims that it's a gory and 'morally grey' book with loads of killing and stuff, but it isn't. It's just world building, and honestly not very much of that.

We get a lot of random stuff. Pretty much half of the book is the three queens in their everyday lives.

It's a huge buildup to the (I can't even remember the name and I read this book like two weeks ago) it's a buildup to the thing where they fight & choose the new queen.

* LET THE SPOILERS COMMENCE *

And, after 398 pages, we didn't even find out who the damn queen was! I wanted Katharine to die, I wanted Arsinoe to be ripped apart, and I wanted Mirabella to be queen.

After proceeding to read some spoiler-y reviews of the next two books (which I'm most likely not going to read. If I do they'll be on audiobook) and in doing so I've found out that Katharine is the queen?

*yawn* Talk about predictable.

Joseph dies and Katharine gets a new love interest. What happened to 'loving' Pietry?

I had to suspend my beliefs so so so so much to even slightly think this book is even a bit real. There are so many things that are mentioned that never come back.

They mention specific events and stuff but never mention them again.

We hardly even know anything about the worlds and the whole book is WORLD BUILDING!

The low magic was hardly explained, we barely get to know anything about the past queens, the current queens' childhood, and their mother.

I think I'm mainly just mad that we know so little from a 398 paged book.

It's utter nonsense.

*sigh* i guess ill give this book a break. the parts that WERE gory and morally grey and stuff were really awesome. Those parts, such as the part where they intend to rip Arsinoe apart, really gave the book its three star. This book could definitely merit a two star, maybe even a one star if it weren't for those parts.

I found the side characters much more fleshed out and developed than our main three. The three queens were boring, if im being honest. They friends were what I really cared about.

My favorites were Bree, Elizabeth, and Jules.

I think all the sort-of "governments" that the three regions have are kinda cool kinda not.

It was an ok book. If I'm being honest, don't waste your time or your money. I spent $11 on this book and that's $11 I'll never get back.
