I guess since I had just read Mere Christianity, I had high expectations. This book was thick and difficult to read. I had a hard time understanding all his points, and to me it seemed he kept stating the same points again and again. I might just not have taken the time to really digest everything he was saying in the book, but I did appreciate the heart of it, though I think it could have been delivered in a cleaner, more easily understood way.
Short and sweet and so, so precious. My only wish was that it was longer! I wish some of the elements could have been fleshed out more. It’s definitely worth the read. Makes me want to curl up in a ball in the early morning and sing with the birds as I watch the sunrise.
This book is really good for what it is. I loved it the first time I read it. I’ve never laughed so hard during a book. There were some small aspects of the story that annoyed me, but that’s probably just because I’m a writer, honestly! The story is wild and fun, and I laughed a lot again reading it for the second time! Great book for middle grade readers, especially those in need of a laugh. :)
This was a very good story. I honestly really loved it. The art was beautiful and I love just /holding/ the book. The weight of it is very satisfying.
BUT.
Some things that happened in the book felt really strong to me. I wanted my mom to read this to my little siblings, but now I'm not sure? One of the characters (SPOILER) is eaten at one point by the monster that's after the MC, and it was downright terrifying. (END SPOILER) But it was still really delightful, and definitely worth the read. It is a very special little book.

OH MY GOODNESS.
AGHHHHHWHXXJDJ.
It was so goooood. Ahhhhhahx. Okay, okay. Ehem. Time for coherency.
Five Things About The Screwtape Letters
1) SO MUCH TO PROCESS. It took me almost two months to read, and I probably would have taken longer but I rushed the end a bit so I could take it back to the library. But this book is a wealth of information. I definitely need to buy my own copy. This is the kind of book i would refer to again and again. It is a masterpiece.
2) the writing. Just...wow. It takes a little bit of getting used to, since it is pretty wordy, but my is it good. The author does such a good job of letting you know what's going on in the "patient's" life without spelling everything out to you. It is sheer brilliance.
3) This book really gave me a new perspective on ... well, just about everything. But especially sin, and just how detrimental it is. And how very real demons are in this world, which is something I used to hardly believe at all.
4) The ending makes me SO SAD AGGGH. But it was still so good.
5) JUST THE WHOLE BOOK. Guys. I'm serious. You need to go and read this. It will change your life.
ALL THE STARS POSSIBLE. Recommended to everyone with the highest approval.
