Brilliant. Mysterious. Interesting. Sensitive. Funny. Sad. Brilliant.
It's slightly unnerving for the characters you learned so much from to be.... not what you expected. Nothing was what I expected. I gave this a 4 purely because I totally related to Scout seeing that Atticus was nothing more than a human being, something I've recently gone through with my own parents. Maycomb is so familiar, but it really is like returning home after being away, growing up and seeing more of the world than the small place you grew up in. Incredibly written and moving.
The fact that I saw the film before I read the book may have had an impact on how much I enjoyed this book. I just thought I'd mention that before I got into this.
So. Did I like the film? Yes. A lot. Did I like the book? Not so much. I was super surprised by this because of how much I enjoyed the film and how much I usually enjoy memoirs/mental health books.
I didn't get a view of start, middle and end. It was all just there. I also felt like Suzanna wasn't really there at times. I don't feel like I got a chance to know her, her feelings and what was actually going on inside her head apart from "oh wow, Lisa!" and I feel like the movie had a lot more to offer.

Humorous but with nothing that truly gripped me. The writing style is perfect for the book and the themes it tackles throughout. Super representative of growing up in England and I feel like my friendship group at that age was very similar to the one in this book. Enjoyable, especially if this is the type of thing you're into. A prime example of its genre.
This took me a while to read. While the concept itself is intriguing, I found it lacking in actual storyline and direction. I didn't really know what the point of most of it was, where it was going or why. Nothing was explained and nothing really happened.
I cried. And cried. And cried some more. I had figured out what was going on at some point but I realllly wanted to be wrong. I enjoyed the writing style and the emotion that was jam packed into this book. I can see that it wouldn't be for everyone but I enjoyed this book a hell of a lot. Definitely worth reading.
