In my heart of hearts, I want to give this book a 5 star rating, but for the amount of frustration that all the miscommunication caused, I had to dock a quarter star.

Otherwise, I really enjoyed this read, and honestly would have finished sooner, but I also didn’t want it to end. This was my first time reading Abby Jimenez’s work and she left quite the impression. The banter between the two MCs was so fun, I loved the humour of Briana’s character, I loved the mental health rep as someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, and it really warmed my heart to read a romance where the guy falls first. Jacob is such a teddy bear, and witnessing all the ways he showed up for his lady was very endearing.

I don’t really purchase books nowadays, but a part of me is contemplating picking up a physical copy to annotate and obsess over again and again.

10000% would recommend!

Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I respect this book for the hard topics it tackled, and the levels of diversity woven throughout. But I will say that it wasn’t really for me overall. Reading about trying to live in a world after major natural disasters feels too close to home due to the current state of the world, but I also acknowledge that looming reality we all face.
