I waited a long time to read this book as I wasn't sure I could read it while Trump was president. Instead, I listened to it on Biden's inauguration day and it gave me a lot of hope for the future.

I have no idea who Ali Wong is, but I really enjoyed this book. She is very funny and has many fascinating stories to share with her daughters. I also liked the ending where her husband shared some of the stories from his perspective.

The beginning of this book used "retard(ed)" quite a few times and I almost DNFed, but I am glad I did not. The chapter about 9/11 and Jost's mom were incredibly emotional as he spoke about how his mother was impacted by the terrorist attacks. I read this book at the recommendation of a few friends, but had no idea who Colin Jost was as I do not watch SNL. I enjoyed hearing about his life, especially as he narrates the audiobook.

Great read, but do not make the mistake that I made in choosing this as an audiobook to listen to while at the office!!

CW: car accident
I had a bit of trouble getting through the ebook, so I switched to the audiobook, which I quite enjoyed. This book is perfect for folks who want to learn more about the ups and downs of small town politics. It was interesting to see how being on the assembly impacted the author's relationships with other folks in her town, both politically and personally.

I really enjoyed this book, especially on audio. As someone who uses Instagram a lot, it was really interesting to hear more about how it started and what events occurred after they were acquired by Facebook. It's like The Social Network, but way better.

I'm so glad Mack hasn't stopped talking about this book for months because I absolutely loved this one, once I finally snagged the audio from the library. PSA to everyone who wants to know more about immigration at the border: stop reading American Dirt and read this book because it is very, very good.
