Oh, man! I absolutely LOVED this. Aura is normal. She has a normal life until these creepy ass creatures start hunting her down by scent, then makes a deal with a High Fae to travel back to Faerie with him to keep her mom and sister safe. So many secrets and betrayals 😭

𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔.

The Fae can't lie, but they are 𝘮𝘢𝘢𝘢𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 of language and sarcasm. I didn't know whether to laugh or throttle Wren, Lucais, and Morgoya😩😂 I felt for Aura hard! That poor woman was thrown into an absolute chess master's game barely knowing how far to move her pieces. She absolutely held her own though!

”𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏?”

There aren't a whole bunch of side characters in AHoC&D, but plenty of people were mentioned that makes me excited to meet them throughout the series. I pieced together the truth pretty quickly, but it took NOTHING away from the story or big reveal at the end. It was like when you know who the killer is on a show but the detective hasn't figured it out yet😩 I wanted to scream it at her, but it made all of the bullying so much sweeter because my ass was digging into everything y'all😂

“𝑰’𝒎 𝒔𝒐 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒌.”

And the big reveal?! I feel like Enyd, Aura, and Morgoya are going to be tight af🤞🏻 They all give the same vibes and I'm here for it! I cannot wait for A Palace of Smoke & Mirrors. My jaw was on the floor when I realized the book ended on me😭

“𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒎𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕.”

Thank you SO so much to the author for the gifted copy! This was incredible🖤🖤

When I tell you I cannot get enough of this series😭 I absolutely loved and obsessed over Assistant, and Apprentice was no different!

“𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒑 𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.”

There was so much more tension! I was squealing like a little girl throughout this whole book😂 I loved that we see more of the "side" characters backgrounds. Specifically Becky. Oh, I felt for her. I cried for her🥺 And speaking of my organized queen, her and Blade have this cute little hate-flirting going on, and I am HERE for it!

“𝑬𝒗𝒊𝒆, 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒆𝒕.”

I was on a roller coaster with this one. I had to put the book down for a hot minute over the cave creature I was crying so hard😭

“𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒆…𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒔.”

The plot was plotting. I was on the edge of my seat majority of the book NEEDING to know what was going to happen next. I literally cannot get enough of this world and these characters. August needs to 👏🏻 hurry 👏🏻 up 👏🏻

This was such an action packed ending! There was so much going on, so much info revealed, relationships grew and mended. After SoL, I was a little worried that the last book would fall short for me, but I couldn't be happier at how wrong I was🥹

I went through the rainbow of emotions with this one and know it will stick with me for a while! I'm so glad I picked this trilogy back up. If you like vampires, witches, star crosses lovers, child of prophecy, found families, and so much more PLEASE read this😭🖤

While I absolutely LOVED A Discovery of Witches, this one was soooo slow. It was a solid 3 stars until about the 70% point. It REALLY took off at that point and I was completely invested in every little thing!

There were so many new characters and world building that it was hard to stay in the moment. I ended up pausing it last year, but I'm either finishing or DNFing all of those books this year so I picked it back up. Around halfway through we finally start getting fresh info and reveals, then around 70% we get back to the action!

I will say, this is one of those where you have to endure the slow parts and jam packed info pages to really appreciate what happens towards the end and the ending. I'm ready for the conclusion and crossing my fingers Book of Life's pace is more like ADOW😅

This was the perfect ending to Serafina and Riyan's story! Everything I hoped would happen did. There was so much that was revealed! I wasn't ready for any of the twists, betrayals, or heartbreak that I endured 😭 Derrick, Serafina, and Riyan were best case scenario and my heart is HAPPY, y'all🥹

𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓.

I cried SO much during this one. From happy tears to my heart being ripped from my chest. I cannot WAIT for Annalise's story and I'm crossing my fingers we get to see way more of Serafina and Riyan knowing who they are now😏

“𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆?”

I normally don't do rereads when more books come out in a series, but I'll be rereading these just to be back with the characters.

My first 5 Star of 2025 and I'm speechless!😭 I absolutely loved this so much. I'm immediately diving into the next book after that horrible cliffhanger.

𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒃𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒌, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒙𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒅.

Serafina grew SO much. There were a couple of parts where I was upset at her, but it didn't last for long. I loved her relationship with Riyan. It grew at an amazing pace.

“𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔, 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒂, 𝑰 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒏.”

Riyan is misunderstood by everyone, and learning his truth had me sobbing! I couldn't imagine going through everything that he did. They both had their own challenges throughout life, but they are perfect for each other in the best way possible.

“𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒈𝒊𝒇𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑬𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓. 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒅.”

The plot though?🤌🏻💋 I've never read a book with giants and I was not disappointed in the least. There's multiple plot points going on and I still have no idea if they're connected. I feel like the next book is going to reveal this huge plot twist.  I was immediately hooked by the first 3 paragraphs, attached at the hip to every character, and loved the dynamics between everyone. I cried a few times, kicked and giggled, gasped, and cheered for Riyan and Serafina. I'm rambling at this point, but I can't get enough of this series! I'm absolutely hooked🖤

I'm still lost for words to be able to describe the emotional toll this book had on me 😭 I love Rynn and Loch. They had such horrible childhoods, but loved each other so much and made such dumb decisions.

𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒃𝒂𝒅𝒍𝒚, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆— 𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒔.

Hindsight is always 20/20 and I feel that's exactly how Rynn felt. I loved her character so much, and honestly if I were in Loch's shoes, my ass would hold a grudge too😂

𝑯𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒎𝒆, 𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆— 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆. 𝑰’𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆.

This Haunted Heart gave Romeo & Juliet vibes but with an added HEA after all the tears and grief (because y'all already know I cried through this whole book 🥲)

"𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝑰’𝒎 𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔."

The ghost aspect was a little creepy, but only knowing what could happen if they weren't respected. I was on such an emotional ride with this book and cannot wait to reread it🥹

Absolutely terrifying. This was a super quick read that gave me the complete heebie jeebies😨 If the movie The Visit was a book is the perfect way to describe it. There are some different and pretty "wtf" twists and shocks! I feel like this could never happen in reality, but it's always the "what if it does" that makes it so terrifying to me.
