Wow. I had high hopes for this book and they did not disappoint!
Keira having lost her memory on who she is, yet fighting and having the reactions she does gives me so many different theories on who she really is. I love how her being able to see ghosts is explained like a kind of gene mutation that gives her a second muscle to essentially place a veil over her eyes.
Zoe & Mason are the best of friends and Agade is such a sweet pastor. I love the super small town where this is based, and I feel like everyone has some kind of dark secret or deep regret about the past that causes them to stay in Blighty.
The Whispering Dead reminds me so much of Ghost Whisperer, but add in some forgotten identity with an assassin skill set. Absolutely love it!

I absolutely love this so much! 🥺 I don't think I'll ever get over this book and all of the emotions I had while reading it.

I was iffy about it because I normally read fantasy romance or thriller so reading a dark comedy romance was outside of my normal. I was immediately hooked and it gives such Dexter vibes! I never saw the twist coming at the end even though through the whole book I'm trying to figure out who could be after them.

After that Epilogue though, I need Leather & Lark, like right now 😂 I hope we get to see Rowan and Sloane just as much in L&L as we got to see Lark and Lachlan in B&B 🖤

This was SO good! It did a really good job of setting up the rest of the series. I have so many questions about everything-Jasmine's past, how their magic works, how deep is the Starvein and Xolani lore?

I love that the bodyguard role is reversed with Jasmine guarding Asher. Their banter is everything by the way lol. It's obvious from the beginning that it's more of an academic rivals to lovers because they're fighting their feelings the whole time 😂

The world and magic was unique. There is some information in this first book, but not near enough to satisfy my curiosity. I hope the second gives us more to go on and more background knowledge about the magic, Xolani's, Starveins, and what the two working together means.

I really enjoyed this and I'm excited to see where the rest of the series goes!

Thank you The Nerd Fam for the gifted ARC.

I need more Quiet and Rorick 🥺 This was such an amazing read!
S.L. Prater did an incredible job of combining a super sweet paranormal romance and murder mystery with multiple insane twists.
I loved the witch x vampire duo, needing to work together after a falling out, then getting locked in the haunted mansion together. I was either kicking my feet, giggling or thoroughly creeped out the entire time.
And can we talk about the insects?! They are SO adorable. I absolutely love that Quiet's companions are insects that help her in so many different ways.
Rorick is the sweetest vampire MMC ever. All time, hands down. He may be lacking some sense in the relationship department, but he makes up for it. And the banter between them? Sooooo good!
I really can't wait until the second book! I'm desperate to know what their next case looks like🥺

I was immediately on edge with this book, and never saw the "who" coming. I was thoroughly scared and at the edge of my seat the whole time. There were also plenty of parts where I cried with the characters 🥺

I heard so many mixed reviews on this series, especially this book so it sat on my shelf for over a YEAR before I finally decided to read it. I was so worried I'd hate it, but it turns out to be the opposite! I absolutely loved it. There were some boring spots, but it added to the overall story so I'm not mad about it.
I loved all the characters and even though I still hate Persephone's mom, I can kind of understand where she was coming from. I love the whole dynamic of the world. It felt like a mafia romance but using the tiers of Greek Gods and Goddesses. I really didn't want to leave Hades or Persephone. I honestly just loved this book so much.

This isn't my normal style of reading, but I loved it! It makes me want to try contemporary romance. I immediately fell in love with Misery's personality as well as Lowe's. The background plot was interesting enough that I wasn't bored one bit through this whole book.
I feel like this is the perfect book for someone who normally reads fantasy/paranormal and wants to dip their toe into contemporary or vise versa! It was so easy to read and understand and just an all around top read of the year so far for me!
