This was SO GOOD!! The characters, the world-building, the writing, the banter, the suspense, the romance, the beautiful writing, the cliffhanger!

We Hunt the Flame totally deserves all the love and hype it is getting! I am so glad I gave into the peer pressure and the FOMO, and finally picked it up. And boy oh boy! I loved it so so much!

Nasir Ghameq is definitely added to my book boyfriends list. I loved the character arc of Nasir, even though I usually despise the whole "love transforming a bad guy" trope. Zafira bint Iskandar!! My QUEEN! I love her so much! I would willingly lay down my life for her, no joke. We saw so little of Deen, but I loved him. The iced cream date Deen and Zafira go for is just the sweetest thing ever. My man deserved better. Altair was such a mysterious, complex character! In the beginning I didn't know if I hated him or loved him. By the end he grew on me. The sarcasm, oof! The witty banter between Altair and Nasir gave me life!

That ending tho! I can't wait for the sequel to come out.

This book is SLOW. Like terribly slow. I think this is the reason why this book doesn't have higher ratings. But if you can look beyond the pacing, this book is beautiful. There was stuff that I did not like, but overall I enjoyed this book immensely. The fact that I slept for only 3 hours last night and finished it in less than 20 hours should vouch for it.

Basically what I'm trying to say is - Read it!!

AAHH so cute!! I loved loved this book!!! I can't believe I had been sleeping on Talia Hibbert for so long. I am tempted to abandon my TBR for this month and read Take a Hint, Dani Brown right this second!

My goodness, this book was amazing! I loved it from start to finish. It is going to be one of my favourite Mahabharat retellings ever! This book is everything I ever wanted from a Mahabharat retelling! It captures the essence of the epic and creates a totally unique story at the same time!If you love the Mahabharata or sci-fi, you should definitely read this book!

I am an emotional mess. It probably wasn't a good idea to read this book in 4 hours. This book is raw and emotional and so powerful. Everyone should read it

⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

This book was soooo fun! An urban Indian fantasy? Sign me up! I was looking forward to reading this book ever since it released last month and I finally did it!

Sheetal is a nearly seventeen Indian (Gujarati)- American and the daughter of a star and a mortal. Her mother was fascinated by the lives of mortals and descended from her nakshatra, Pushya to visit our delightful world. Although she loved Sheetal and her father, she could not be separated from her nakshatra for too long. So when Sheetal was 7, her mother disappeared back to the skies. And now nearly 10 years later, Sheetal's body is going through changes. Unknown to her, she is slowly becoming a full star, a process that will complete on her 17th birthday.

As her birthday comes closer, she starts to feel a strong pull from the sky. After an accidental that fatally injures her father, she has ascend to the skies to retrieve a star's blood, which is the only thing that can save him. She finds herself thrown in the middle of the politics of the starry court of the Nakshatras. With her best friend Minal by her side, she must face an impossible task to save her father.

The world building is AMAZING! This book does not feel like a debut. Shevta Thakrar has given lush descriptions of a most fantastical world! All the characters are so well written and complex. Sheetal's struggle with acceptance and her identity are so important and so wonderfully done. She is nowhere near perfect but she is always improving herself. Which I absolutely loved. In fact, none of the characters are perfect. They lie to each other, they betray each other but they also love each other. Music plays a huge role in Sheetal's life and her story. And they way it has been described here is beautiful! There are so many old Bollywood songs in here!!

The only thing I didn't like was that the pacing felt a little off and the timeline was a bit confusing at times. But other than that, beautiful book! Read it!

“As she starts the car, I put my feet up on the dash. Two girls from opposite sides of the earth, emerging from the ashes, stronger.”

Dani is a poor Filipino-American, living with her mom in East Covina, California. She is on the debate team, and is a scholarship student. After school, she works at a cleaning company that contracts with many of her wealthy classmates' families. Her private school is a host for "parachutes", rich Chinese students sent here by their parents to get foreign education. The school pays any family that hosts a "parachute" in their homes. Running short on cash, Dani's mom decides to host one at their home. Although Dani is not happy about having to deal with a spoiled rich kid, she does need money to go to an elite debate competition.

Claire belongs to a wealthy Shanghai family and is extremely privileged. She doesn't want to go to an American school in the middle of eleventh grade, but her parents don't give her any choice. Her wealthy background immediately elevates her to instant high status in the school and a friend group of popular girls.

The book is told in alternating first person POVs of both these girls. It is a breezy read, but at the same time deals with some heavy and hard hitting topics - sexual assault, rape, wealth, immigrant, discrimination, relationships and trauma.

“Is this what the rest of my life is going to be like? Moments of happiness punctured by the memory of what happened, like a bomb which can detonate at any time.”

I had expected a story about a clueless rich girl being clueless in a foreign country. I couldn't be more wrong. This book was raw, emotional, heart-breaking and honest. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Trigger Warnings : Grooming, sexual harassment, rape, bullying

This book was hard to read. After the first chapter, I just had to put it down and take a break. It was way too real. When I picked it up again, I finished it in a day.

This was my first book by Samit Basu and I am happy to report that he totally deserves all the praise he gets!

Set in the 2030s in Delhi, this book is about Joey, a super talented and popular Reality Controller and works for Indi, her ex-boyfriend and an influencer on Flow. Flows are basically livestreams where people are constantly sharing (flaunting) their lives. Joey's job is to manage Indi's Flows such that they cater to every type of viewer. When Joey goes to the funeral of her father's old friend, she hires his youngest son Rudra as their Reality Editor. A spur of the moment action taken to save Rudra from his shady family and shadier associates, soon pulls Joey into a whirlpool of troubles. Joey has to deal with takeovers, sex scandals, betrayals and the city's underbelly.

I loved the writing! The plot was interesting and kept me hooked. The technologies were terrifying and exciting at the same time. And the world was absolutely petrifying. I can totally see why this book made the longlist for the JCB prize.

This was such an enjoyable read! I loved every minute I spent reading it. The plot is awesome, the characters are awesome, the writing is awesome. Liz and Mack were so cute, I LOVED THEM!
