This was such a cute retelling! Zuri and Darius were a little annoying at times but I loved the way the characters were shifted into modern day New York so flawlessly. Highly recommend for fans of the original Pride and Prejudice

This one surprised me. I like Alyssa Cole though so I decided to give it a try.
Some of it is a little weird but right when I thought my rating would drop she swoops in with a great plot twists and I loved it!
Also looking forward to the next book in this world that is supposedly coming :)

Graphic: Medical trauma
I like the way that the story is told and I like Cal (I think that's his name) but I do not like Vera. I don't know if that's because of the actual character or because of the narrator. They're interactions are also just a little weird to me

Not as good as book one. It would have been if the characters weren't being ridiculous

Overall I enjoyed this. Some of the things that the characters did and said really irritated me but because I'm a sucker for a good plot twist and that was the saving grace.

I enjoyed this a lot but not as much as the first. Even though it didn't bother me in GOPAF, the romance was annoying in this one.
I loved the new characters that we were introduced to and some of the twists were painful (in the best way). I am super interested in the third book and I have a lot of questions

This was my first time reading Katee Robert and it was okay. I had some issues with the plot but as far as the story, and plot twists I enjoyed it.

I really liked Nya and Johan as characters but there were a lot of tropes in here that I disliked: "he can't possibly be interested in me," unnecessary lack of communication, commitment issues due to seeing someone else's actions....all of it was really annoying.
Otherwise, great queer rep and great examples of consent.
I hate Nya's dad (naturally) I wish she would have told him off when she realized he had been lying to her the whole time that he was in prison.
I had an issue with Johan not communicating with Nya
Nya understandably has a lot of self doubt due to all of the trauma in her life but I love the way that she fought through it all

This was a nice little addition. I appreciate having the opportunity to be in Nezha's head.
Because this occurs between The Dragon Republic and The Burning God, I do wish that we could have also gotten what he was thinking in the last book. But it was nice to know at least some of this thoughts and have confirmation for things that I suspected.
I specifically would love to know this thoughts after Rin kills Vaisra and after Rin and Kitay die and he becomes the ruler of a broken Republic at the will of the Hesperians

I got approved for an e-arc of Redemptor on Netgalley and I was so excited to read it! Jordan Ifueko really delivered with the conclusion to this duology and I enjoyed the few final pages.
The reason that I am not rating this a full five stars is honestly because Tarisai really pissed me off throughout the duration of this book. I was annoyed by the constant self doubt and how she tortured herself because she thought it would appease the ojiji. Tar is literally the only person in the history of the Kunleo empire to do something about the redemptor children, yet they tell her she has to do more? Also, she's only 16 when they start coming to her, she's still a child and does not need all of that weight on her shoulders. Yeah I get that abiku were trying to break her but the fact that she kept it from everyone for so long or would always think "they're right" when they clearly were not was frustrating.
I also hate that she constantly allowed Zuri to flirt with her and invade her personal space and then kisses him. I also didn't like the way she told Kirah about the kiss but not Jeet. And then to find out that not only did he use her but that he had also kissed The Lady like that. Ew
I loved seeing the relationship bloom between Ai Ling and Dayo. I'm glad that they are together and I loved her response to Dayo's concerns as an asexual person.
I was annoyed by how he just assumed that Tar would want kids since he didn't. That's not fair to her and again that is not a burden that should be placed on a teenage girl. I appreciate that Ifueko made Tar a young woman who didn't want children and that she stood by it instead of magically changing her mind or being forced into it. Another reason that I like Tar's decision at the end.
I also really liked her relationship with Min Ja
I also disliked how she continued to second guess herself in the Underworld even though she had been drilled on what to do and what not to do. And the fact that she wanted to trust The Lady irked my soul because it reeked of set up
Overall I did enjoy this, just not as much as book one and I am excited to see what Jordan Ifueko writes next.
