I enjoyed this but just not as much as the first. Not sure if it's middle book syndrome or if I just didn't care for some of the POVs

It was kind of cool to get
Balam's pov because we learned a lot through him but I did not particularly care. I also still don't care for Narampa even though her powers are interesting.

I was expecting a huge show down between Serapio and Narampa and while I do like their reconciliation I'm disappointed that we didn't get that.

I like Xiala as a character - for the most part - but I guess I don't find her "love" for Serapio believable so the fact that that's sort of all she cared about was kind of annoying. I am interested to see what happens now that she's back on Teek.

I feel like Serapio will try to kill Okoa

I am also interested to see the reunion between Nara and Iktan

I knew that Nara's brother was going to die. There was a certain line that felt like foreshadowing either in the same chapter or the previous one and I just felt it coming.

I am excited to see where this series goes. I'll be waiting for the next one!

Well this went better than The Wedding Date since I actually finished it this time.

I like Anna and Ben as characters and I like them together. I like Theo, Maddie, Penny, and almost all of the side characters except for Simon

Not a fan of the
third act break even though I appreciated that Anna told Ben the truth about the publicity stunt sooner than I expected and that Ben told her he was in love with her right away.

Unfortunately this was average for me. I enjoyed seeing the girls together again and I love Taylor. But I did not like Jamar at all. He as a character just did not work for me I did not like anything about him and found him to be incredibly immature

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc of this book!!

I loved what R.F. Kuang did in The Poppy War and Babel is perfect for fans of dark academia, history, languages, and found family.

There was one character who I never liked from the moment they appeared on page
There were characters that I disliked at first but grew to love
And there were characters who I hated more with each turn of the page

I am so excited to see what more people think as we get closer to release day!

I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed the world, the characters, the magic, all of it.

I love multiple POVs so we have our two main characters as well as a few side characters here and there and I loved it. Priya and Bhumika are my favorites by far.

At first I really hated
Ashok, and while I am glad that he did not betray Priya again, I also didn't really care that he didn't return from the waters.

I absolutely think that it should be
Malini who takes the throne, but I'm interested to see how that affects everyone. I'm also interested to see the reunion between Malini and Chandra.

Definitely pre-ordering the second book!!

I was not sure what to expect even though I had heard great things. This was great. A little slow to start but once the story gets going you will be hooked! Looking forward to reading the sequel even though I've heard mixed things.

I liked all of the characters that we follow except Narampa

I appreciated the LGBTQIA+ rep and I think this may be the only book I've read with the use of xe/xir pronouns

I would recommend this book to people who are fans of Gillian Flynn. Taylor Adams has a talent for creating gross characters that make you uncomfortable and situations that give you the ick.

This was definitely thrilling and had a lot of plot twists however there were some elements that I did not enjoy: the use of the n-word and other slurs, unnecessary vulgarity at times, and things of that nature.

I will be listing content warnings for this, there are a ton.

I would recommend the Hulu movie adaptation but caution that there is a lot of blood and it includes drug use that is not present in the book. I gave the movie 4 stars

While I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book, I did not enjoy the read overall.

I hated most of the dialogue. The romance did not feel believable because when things started between them they simply had not spent enough time together or even had enough straight forward conversations to develop real feelings. However, the author kept emphasizing the feelings were more than lust and I'm not convinced that they were.

A lot of the things that Grayson says were cringey af. I kept reading though because I was curious about how it would end and then I disliked the ending. I am curious about the second book but I will not be reading the second book... I'll just look up what happens lol

If you want to read this for the smut heads up that it is a very slow burn. Every time you think they will....they won't.

I enjoyed this so much I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Rhi and Samson are so fucking cute.

My biggest dislikes were the way that others treated them. For example
Trevor had no right to ask Samson for help after how he treated him. Fuck him. I also didn't like how Annabelle gave Trevor Samson's number cause she had no right and knew what he had done. I like that Samson demanded an apology though.

Peter can kick fucking rocks.

I was not a fan of the third act break up. They were doing so well with communicating their needs and whatnot. And I hate how Rhiannon is like "my ex fucked me over therefore I can never trust and be in a relationship again" I know it's a common trope but I hate it
I also didn't love the "his dick is pretty" thing. Dicks aren't pretty. Ever

Other than that, I loved it. One of my favorite parts was
Samson sending food to her and her employees for a week. I also really love her relationship with her brother

Would definitely recommend and I will be continuing the series.
