Going in I did not realize that the love interest was the ex-fiancé's brother so that was interesting.

I like Lina and Max as individuals and together but typical romance tropes that I dislike definitely played a role in my rating.  I was also super annoyed with the lies Lina told because it was stupid and the set up provided enough drama as is.

I strongly discourage you from getting the audiobook. The male narrator isn't great and the voices that he does for all of the women were awful He tried to add an accent for many of Lina's family and it was a huge fail.

I really loved book one and wanted to love this but it wasn't my favorite. I would recommend for people who enjoy arranged marriage and forced proximity.

The entire first half of this book was a no for me. So many red flags in the things that were said, and the way that other people were described. And the miscommunication/lack of communication was annoying as hell.

I love Khai but Esme
really annoyed me. There was no valid reason for her to lie about being an accountant of keeping her daughter a secret until damn near the last chapter.

Argue with someone else.

I will be doing a full review soon

It Happened One Summer

Tessa Bailey

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

I could not get into this. This was the book that was recommend for me to give Tessa Bailey a second chance but I think we just aren't meant to be.
I don't care about Piper's redemption, at 28 she's too old to act the way she does. At one point she says to her parents "I don't even know how to make toast" which is sad because my baby brother could do that when he was 7.
I also didn't care for Brenden and his immediate and constant sexualization of Piper. If this were an erotica cool but apparently I'm supposed to care about the relationship here which is hard when she's constantly talking about him having a boner despite the fact that he was an asshole to her for most of their early interactions.
Hannah is the only character in this that I liked and I hate that she feels like she has to take care of her older sister.

This book did what Legendborn wanted to do.
I recommend a blended read because at first it was a lot to take in with all of the lore and it is a little slow to start but once it got going it was GOOD! If you like stories with gods among humans, then you will enjoy this.
I would have given it a higher rating if it weren't for the
romance subplot

I enjoyed this and would recommend for fans of mystery with fantastical elements - but it does get a little dark and has some creepy elements like lots of
vomit and creepy crawlies as well as things crawling under skin or out of bodies.

Tyler was mostly insufferable but I did like the storyline with finding out more about
his sister Rosie and I did like that he was given closure

Iris started to annoy me when shit started to go left. She obviously isn't stupid but took too long for her to put some of the pieces together. I also don't understand
what the hell the point was of making Tyler Grey's boyfriend and then having Iris kiss him and her and Vivi going back to find him in the Halfway. That's weird

While this is a pretty short book I honestly think it could have been like 40-50 pages shorter

This book was absolutely a good read but I think a lot of people gloss over the content warnings so proceed with caution

I have never wanted to box a character so much in my life. Korey is by far the biggest
bitch I've read about this year. The lies, the manipulation, the predatory behavior.... I'm glad that bitch is dead

While I do feel like I’ve been reading this for forever I was really intrigued by the story and all of the events that took place. I will definitely be continuing the series
