Super cute! Funny and a good commentary on the current fitness trend.

I review books on my blog Rachel's Reading. For more like this check it out!

I started this when I started a bunch of books about Christian weight loss including the book this was supposed to accompany, "Made to Crave". I wasn't a huge fan of "Made to Crave" and I actually DNFed it, but was working through this in the YouVersion Bible app. I enjoyed this, although I really disagree with and dislike the idea that we must only eat carrot sticks and not indulge in the sweet stuff. I'm a huge fan of Intermittent Fasting, which has helped me lose weight and keep it off, and the idea behind this seems to solely be to deny, and to do it for God, rather than to Delay. This devotional was less so, and able to work with the way that has changed how I eat, however, just be prepared when you work your way through this, that it is focused a lot on solely denying.

One of my very good friends, Amanda, really loved this series. I actually remember being at her house years ago and grabbing this book because of the cover and her talking about how much she absolutely loved this series. I couldn't really focus at that point so I, unfortunately, didn't get to it until October of this year. I was supposed to read it for the Reading Glasses Book Club that I run, but life has kind of eaten me alive this year.

When I finally sat down to read this I was somewhat disappointed. Someone mentioned this was like a Russian Harry Potter and I started to see the correlations quickly. Oh my gosh, Alina can save everyone! She's being mentored by the more powerful wizard person, and I was kind of disappointed. However, this book gave me a twist I really wasn't expecting and that is what kept me reading.

I know that Leigh Bardugo is someone most people REALLY enjoy in the YA world, and people can't stop raving over "Six of Crows" but because I'm weird and feel like I really need to read things in published order, I'll get to it eventually. Now that the world building has been done to a decent extent, I'm settling in to enjoy the others much more.
