"It turns out you don't need a Y chromosome to be a superhero. You just need balls."

I had never heard of Mockingbird, but figured I should give this comic a shot, since it was free on Comixology and I'm all about bad ass female super heroes. Also, I got her as a character at Avengers Academy and I wanted to learn more about her. Boy am I glad I did that.

This amazing, feminist, funny and all over wonderful comic just stole my heart. The way Chelsea Cain writes is so brilliant and brings these characters to life, even for people who have no idea who Mockingbird is. She explains things to the reader in such a great way that doesn't feel like you're being caught up on a ton of history. 

Full of Hamilton references, and the story of a woman who feels like a lab rat and just longs to be free, this comic really stole my heart in a way I never expected. Mockingbird has easily become one of my new favorite superhero women, right alongside Scarlet Witch.
