This book was my second non-fiction book ever, and even now, five years later, still has stuck with me. I read Krakauer's book on Mormon plural marriage and fundamentalism and really enjoyed how he wrote. I went into this book blind, and wow, I learned so much. For those of you who don't know, Krakauer is also a mountaineer and I had no idea how dangerous scaling large mountains was. I really enjoy the way that Krakauer writes his books, always alternating between the history of whatever he's exploring topic wise, and then a story. In this book, it alternated between the history of climbing Mount Everest, and the terrifying ordeal Krakauer endured in May 1996.

This book has honestly stayed with me for a very long time, I find myself watching documentaries on mountain climbing and I honestly learned so much. I've always strayed from Non-Fiction but this reminded me why some can be really good. I highly recommend Krakauer and can't wait to read some of his other books.

I really really love Namor and the questions he brings into this whole event.
