iris is a girlboss and basically the only part of this book i loved <3

the rest of this was just really long for some reason :,( but i can see why people love it! i just didn’t

edit: i keep thinking about how underdeveloped so many parts of this was. from the rushed ending to the characters and side characters, i think initially i was swept up in the hyped book cycle. i still loved it! just not a 5 star :,)

very very sweet. full of people finding themselves in video games and learning to make change in a place they don’t feel respected in.

i loved the audiobook of this!

bleh. this was overwhelmingly average and my least favourite from this author. which I suppose is a good thing considering it was her debut and I adored all the rest!

but boring plot, boring characters and the romance was lack-lustre. it was a quick and easy read but not one i'd recommend. sorry :(

i feel like i can’t properly rate this or give it the review it deserves at the moment because i am: emotionally recovering. this little book held so much emotional weight and was so beautiful whilst being philosophical without seeming confusing? it was so peaceful and kind and i loved it. also, a non-binary monk making unlikely friends with a robot named after mushrooms :,) i am soft and i am emotional and AHHH screaming to the void

i loved this story so much but it did have a few flaws: for the first 100 ish pages i was bored out of my mind, it was so so slow and the relationship within the story felt so forced and unnecessary? the romance didn’t feel important at all, neither did the relationship itself. you couldn’t really feel the connection between the two, it just sort of felt like the author said “oh btw, they like each other, look they’re kissing now” and it didn’t really work for me. this is also targeted towards the younger ya which i didn’t know going in.

but!!!! sapphics toppling the patriarchy >>>> and i adored the ending, the ending itself gives you a 5 star feeling but you can’t just 5 star it when the rest of the book wasn’t as good? ahhh i still loved it but i’m conflicted 

teenagers growing from their trauma!! found family!! messy people and their messy lives, i love them and i need more of them already. 

i went into this expecting it to be really cute and sweet and lighthearted and now i am an emotional wreck. i have been crying since i finished this morning and owowow i love them, i love this book, my heart hurts </3

but also, it’s definitely not marketed correctly and is a lot heavier than advertised. 

it was enjoyable but i think a lot more could have been added on, for example a more satisfying conclusion in terms of goals, more impact on side characters and a better purpose to root for the main goal in the first place. it was funny and easy and a really light read and overall i had a fun time reading it! there we’re just a lot of technical issues that took away from my enjoyment <3

so sweet, lovely and overall incredibly wholesome. i loved this so so much. it was pure lighthearted goodness about building the cutest cafe and the cutest found family. i loved all these characters and i loved the lack of plot <3
